Owen Tangavelou is not one of those drivers that learns to drive before the learn to walk. It’s only in 2019, at 14 years old, that the young French-Vietnamese driver entered his first karting championship. We had a quick chat with him.

Even though Tangavelou was supposed to stick to karting in 2020, he did his first single-seater test with the FFSA Academy and impressed enough to be selected for the French F4 Championship. It proved to be a learning season, finishing 10th in the final standings. He decided on a second season and vastly improved, scoring two podiums and finishing in 5th.
The 16-year-old now has his eyes set on higher ground as he’s looking to enter the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). He had several outings with G4 Racing at the official post-season testing. In order to be fully prepared for a future FRECA campaign, Owen Tangavelou will join Hitech GP for the last three rounds of Formula Regional Asia, taking over Gabriele Minì’s car.
