Hitech driver Paul Aron clinched his third pole position of the 2024 Formula 2 season at Spa-Francorchamps on Friday. After the session, the Estonian driver told Feeder Series that after a tough couple of rounds, he just wants to score points this weekend.

Aron had difficulties at the last two F2 rounds at Silverstone and the Hungaroring, picking up just five points across four races.
His pole position at Spa on Friday was his second pole in as many weeks. Aron also clinched pole a week ago in Hungary, but his feature race ended after just seven laps when he drove into the back of Zane Maloney. Aron will take a grid drop in the Spa sprint race as a penalty for the collision.
Speaking in a press conference after clinching the Spa pole position, Aron told Feeder Series “I just want to score some points this weekend.”
He said he made his race-ending mistake last time out because he was so focused on trying to win the race.
Asked whether the poor rounds in Silverstone and Hungary had affected him mentally, Aron said “definitely it’s not a nice thing to have, it’s always mentally easier when things go well.”
“But I think I’ve proven already that it’s not had an effect on my performance as I mean I had a pretty tough round in Silverstone [and] I came and went on pole in Hungary, then we had a tough Sunday there, and then I’m on pole again here.”
Aron said the last two rounds “didn’t take me down” and that it was a “bit of a shame” that he had delivered strong races earlier in the year when he did not have the outright pace in qualifying. “And then now, in the last few rounds, when we’ve clearly been very quick and much quicker than I was at the beginning of the year … I’ve actually brought [fewer] points.”
Aron scored just five points in the last four races. By comparison, championship leader Hadjar scored 34 points over the same period. Hadjar replaced Aron at the top of the F2 standings at Silverstone.
