Four more series stage their first rounds of 2025 this weekend as NOLA Motorsports Park in Louisiana and MotorLand Aragón in Spain play host to a multitude of racing series. Feeder Series gets you up to speed with all the action as March comes to a close.

At the end of last month, the IndyCar junior ladder kicked off its 2025 racing package; at the end of this one, it’s time for the American series on the FIA ladder to do the same. Formula Regional Americas, F4 US and Ligier JS F4, all part of the Parella Motorsports Holdings package, hold their season openers for the fourth year running at NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, Louisiana, with nearly 40 entries between the three series.
In Spain, meanwhile, is the inflection point between winter and summer. On one weekend at Aragón, Eurocup-3 Spanish Winter Championship will hold its final round and title showdown, while Spanish F4 kicks off its main season. They are part of the NAPA Racing Weekend package promoted by the Spanish motorsport federation, which also begins this weekend.
As for series testing but not racing, F2 and F3 have been in Bahrain from Wednesday until today for an in-season test at the Bahrain International Circuit a fortnight before it hosts each series’ respective second rounds. In F2, Gabriele Minì and Victor Martins, the two fastest qualifiers in the season opener in Melbourne, have set the two fastest times so far, while third-year Mari Boya of Campos Racing currently leads the overall timetable for F3.
Finally, while not covered in detail in this report, Fórmula 2 Argentina also hosts its second round this weekend in Neuquén. Fellow Formula Renault 2.0–spec series Fórmula Nacional Argentina held its own season opener a fortnight ago in Concepción del Uruguay.

What to know: With a significant lead in the standings and one fewer race this weekend at Aragón, MP Motorsport’s Mattia Colnaghi on 97 points is in prime position to take back-to-back titles after his triumph in Spanish F4 last year. His closest rival, KCL by MP’s Maciej Gładysz, sits 28 points behind the Italian driver after a promising challenge across the Portimão weekend abruptly ended on the penultimate lap of the final race because of mechanical issues.
Having entered the championship last time out, Colnaghi’s teammate Valerio Rinicella sits in third on 61 points after he narrowly took a win in race one as well as two further podiums and two pole positions.
Contrary to what was announced at the beginning of the season, Aragón will only have two 30-minute plus one lap races. Both the non-reverse-grid sprint race and the conventional sprint race, originally slated to bookend the two full-length races, will not be held. The format otherwise remains the same.
At Griffin Core by Campos, Lucas Fluxá moves over from the main team’s #24 car to the #37 car previously occupied by Kacper Sztuka. Red Bull junior Ernesto Rivera takes over the vacated #24 car to make his Eurocup-3 debut.
Victoria Blokhina is now off the entry list for Drivex after having entered but not competed in the second round. In a surprising move, teammate Juan Cota moves back to Spanish F4 with MP Motorsport, replacing Yani Stevenheydens. The Belgian driver in turn has moved up to Eurocup-3, replacing Cristian Cantú in GRS Team’s sole car.
Garrett Berry is also not on the entry list for Saintéloc Racing despite being present for testing at Aragón earlier this week.
Lastly, reigning Formula Trophy UAE champion Kai Daryanani joins KCL by MP Motorsport for the final round. The Dutch outfit’s satellite previously only had one representative in Gładysz after Matheus Comparatto withdrew from the championship.

Most of the drivers and teams who competed in the winter series will continue on into the main season. Cram Motorsport will not compete in this year’s Spanish F4 after having withdrawn from the final round of the winter series, and four-time 2024 race winner Juan Cota has notably rejoined the championship with MP Motorsport after previously moving up to Drivex’s Eurocup-3 squad.

What to know: This weekend marks the first of eight rounds scheduled for the 2025 FR Americas season. With 17 drivers set to race in the first round, this season opener ties for the largest grid in series history.
The split between Crosslink Motorsports and Kiwi Motorsport, a dominant partnership for the previous seven seasons of the series, will introduce a new dynamic to the grid. Eyes will be on which of the teams will perform better this year. The teams are each home to one of the two best-placed returnees from 2024, with third-placed Jett Bowling racing with Kiwi Motorsport and fourth-placed Titus Sherlock with Crosslink Motorsports. Among the rookies is reigning F4 US champion Daniel Quimby, who continues with the Atlantic Racing Team that took him to the title last year.

What to know: Unlike FR Americas, F4 US comes to the first round of the championship with one of its smallest grids ever. With only eight drivers confirmed to be racing in the series opener, the championship has yet to recover from the significant decline it experienced last year when it introduced the second-generation F4 car.
All of the drivers taking part in the championship this year have yet to complete a full season with the new car. Two drivers – Kekai Hauanio and Demitri Nolan – are stepping up from Ligier JS F4, with Hauanio having placed eighth in the series back in 2023. Alex Popow did, however, enter the final round of the series in 2024 with MLT Motorsports, his 2025 team, and win his first two races.

What to know: This year, the former Ligier JS F4 series has been rebranded to the Ligier Junior Formula Championship. Despite the change in name, the series continues to provide its winning driver a scholarship to advance to F4 US in the following year.
Fourteen drivers are confirmed to be racing in the opening round, and Berg Racing’s line-up is the one that has the most at stake at the moment. Their duo of Harbir Dass and Drew Szuch ran all or most of the races last year. Among the rookies are 17-year-old Gaston Irazu, the reigning Formula FARA champion, and Daniel Cará, who took several podiums in the car when it was used in F4 US in 2023.
