There’s just one junior single-seater championship competing this weekend in the form of GB4 at Donington Park. Here’s what you need to know about it and how you can follow it.
By Feeder Series
The third Formula 1 race of the season this weekend in Japan has no junior single-seater racing accompanying it, but the big stories on that front are happening off track. The cataclysmic seat swap between Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda at Red Bull’s two F1 teams has dominated headlines over the past week and reignited conversations about the purpose and structure of F1 junior programmes.
It’ll be a quiet week of racing for junior single-seaters, though, with only MotorSport Vision’s GB4 Championship season opener taking place this weekend at Donington Park. The series will run on the British GT package, albeit without parent series GB3.
Testing, however, continues across several series. F1 Academy will hold a three-day test beginning today at Jeddah, which hosts the all-female series’ second round in a fortnight. FRegional Japan also held a one-day test on Wednesday at Suzuka, topped by TOM’S rookie Tokiya Suzuki. And on his first time driving an oval, Indy Nxt championship leader Dennis Hauger finished first in the series’ oval test on Tuesday at Nashville Superspeedway.
And having started this preview with F1, we end it with the other end of the racing ladder. Keep reading to get the lowdown on the FIA Karting European Championship, and karting as a whole, in 2025.

Weather forecast: Sunny throughout the weekend, with a chance of some gusty winds on Saturday.
What to know: The fourth season of GB4 begins this weekend boasting a new car, new venue for the opening round and its largest grid to date. A total of 24 drivers are set to take to the track at Donington Park for the first of seven rounds in 2025.
All eyes will be on the pacesetters from pre-season testing, in particular Elite Motorsport’s Alexandros Kattoulas and Isaac Phelps, Douglas Motorsport’s Luke Hilton, and Arden Motorsport’s Leon Wilson.
Kattoulas was the only driver to finish every official testing day as one of the three fastest drivers, topping the times on the second days at Oulton Park and Donington Park. All of Hilton, Phelps and Wilson were fastest on at least one day in pre-season, with Hilton ending testing in strong form by topping both days of the final test at Silverstone.

From the press: Of the 24 drivers this weekend, 10, including Ginetta Junior Championship graduate Thomas Ingram Hill, are single-seater debutants. We caught up with the 15-year-old to talk about his adaptation to the GB4 car and joining up with Luca Magnussen and Jack Taylor at Fortec Motorsport. Read the interview here.
Bonus: Karting in 2025
Single-seater action for this weekend is sparse, but you can get a glimpse of the next generation at the FIA Karting European Championship, which holds the first round for the OK and OK-Junior classes at Campillos in Spain.
All sessions will have timing on Kartcom and FIA Karting, while Saturday and Sunday’s action will be broadcasted live on the FIA Karting YouTube channel.
