Voisin ‘looking forward to more success’ after strong start to F3 season

Rodin’s Callum Voisin sits third in the Formula 3 standings after securing his first podium of the season in the Bahrain feature race. Feeder Series spoke with Voisin ahead of the third round in Imola to find out where he feels he needs to improve to challenge for the title.

Both Voisin and his Rodin Motorsport team struggled in the early stages of 2024, and he had to wait until the seventh round at Silverstone to score his first points of the season. His second F3 season, however, has been a different story.

Having scored points in three of the four races so far, Voisin has taken a big step up in form, but the 19-year-old is always looking to improve.

“The main thing that I lacked last year was consistency. My main weakness was that I couldn’t score points throughout the whole year. When we did score points, it was good but we didn’t get to do it very often,” Voisin told Feeder Series at a virtual media roundtable last week.

After the first two rounds in 2024, Voisin, who entered as the reigning GB3 champion, had failed to finish above 17th in any of the four races. Now, non-scores, such as when he retired from the Melbourne feature after making contact with Nikola Tsolov, are anomalies. With a total of 27 points, Voisin has already scored 40 per cent of his 67-point haul from 2024 after just four races.

“From my side, it’s maximising every weekend that I get, whether that means getting a P5 or a win or a podium or whatever,” he said of his approach. “It’s just making sure that every time I leave the weekends, I know that I’ve done the best job possible. Obviously, consistency plays a big part in that as well, but so far, it’s been a little bit better.”

His streak of six consecutive points finishes last season began at his home race at Silverstone, where he took advantage of wet conditions throughout the weekend. During the feature race, he produced one of the season’s most memorable performances with his drive from ninth to first on the road, which became third after a penalty was applied, after he made the gamble to start on slicks.

Two rounds later, Voisin secured his first F3 pole position and victory at Spa, leading every lap and earning his first grand slam. He was the only driver to achieve one all season.

Voisin has already shown that he has the potential to repeat his results from Spa. In Bahrain, he narrowly missed out on taking pole position, setting a lap time that placed him only 0.156s behind championship leader Rafael Câmara.

Voisin then took the lead on the opening lap and battled with Câmara throughout the early stages of the feature race. Câmara’s attempt to retake the position on lap three lasted only a few corners, but he ended up passing Voisin for good at the start of lap five. Voisin remained in second for the rest of the race and brought home his first podium of the 2025 season. He also put in a strong performance in the sprint, going from 11th to fourth in the 19-lap race.

Having left Bahrain with a 25-point haul, Voisin now sits third in the championship standings behind Câmara and Tim Tramnitz, putting him in a stronger position to fight for this year’s title. With his and Rodin’s difficult 2024 season behind him, Voisin said he had ‘a lot of confidence’ in the team after his strong start to 2025.

“It’s kind of what I expected in a way. Last year was a huge building year for me and the team. I turned up with not a lot of preparation or not as much as I would’ve wanted,” he said. “The team had struggled, especially quite a lot in the year previously, but the team are now in a really good spot.”

Voisin also attributes his results to the dynamics at Rodin. For 2025, the Briton is joined by Polish-British driver Roman Bilinski and New Zealand’s Louis Sharp, who had been his successor as GB3 champion last year.

“We’re all working really well together,” Voisin added. “I’ve got some good engineers and teammates. I’ve kept the same bubble around me. I’ve got the same mechanic, same engineer, same driver coach, same management. For me, it’s all very much continuity. So far it’s going pretty well, and I’m definitely looking forward to more success.”
