Feeder Series weekend preview and schedule: 04–06 July

No fewer than 12 junior single-seater series are competing this weekend all around the world, with events at Silverstone, the Hungaroring and Mid-Ohio enjoying much of the spotlight. Feeder Series previews what’s to come.

By Feeder Series

It’s another one of those busy weekends that’ll keep you glued to your screen, whether you’re trackside, at home or somewhere in between. F1 and IndyCar as well as their support series are in full force this weekend, and F1, F2, F3 and F4 will be part of the same event for the first time ever thanks to British F4’s non-championship Silverstone round in support of the British Grand Prix.

Elsewhere in Europe, the regional tier of junior single-seaters will descend upon other classic F1 venues. Eurocup-3 heads to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza for a standalone event, while FRegional Europe, Euroformula Open and GB3 all head to the Hungaroring together for a second consecutive year. Both of those events, as well as F4 SEA’s street race at Bangsaen, are set to feature sweltering conditions, with highs at or above 35ºC.

Meanwhile, as the United States celebrates Independence Day, its open-wheel ladder features its most robust presence of the season yet at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, where all four of the IndyCar support series are out in force this weekend. Keep reading for more on Indy NXT, USF Pro 2000, USF2000 and USF Juniors, including the new-look grids in several series.

A current F2 driver and a recent F2 graduate will make their competitive F1 bows this weekend. Red Bull junior and current Campos Racing F2 driver Arvid Lindblad, will become the first driver since Max Verstappen in 2015 to compete in an F1 weekend session aged 17 when he takes over Yuki Tsunoda’s Red Bull Racing car at his home event. Last month, Lindblad received special dispensation to receive an FIA Super Licence before turning the usual minimum age of 18.

The other debutant is 2024 F2 third-place finisher and Alpine reserve Paul Aron, who will take over Nico Hülkenberg’s Sauber F1 car as part of a loan agreement devised with the Swiss team. Aron’s older brother and manager, Ralf Aron, has been a simulator driver for Sauber since 2022.

What to know: F2 kicks off the second half of its 2025 season in Silverstone this weekend.

Richard Verschoor enters round eight with 114 points and a 24-point championship advantage over Alex Dunne following his win and Dunne’s disqualification in Austria. Jak Crawford and Leonardo Fornaroli, who joined Verschoor on the Spielberg feature race podium, are still in the championship picture with 88 and 86 points respectively.

Arvid Lindblad will look to bounce back from a poor weekend – his first without a top-10 finish in F2 – by repeating his Silverstone success from F3. Last year, he won both the sprint race and feature race in a dominant display in his first races at the circuit. Lindblad is currently sixth in the standings, 35 points behind Verschoor.

Both of last year’s Silverstone winners have since graduated from F2 to F1, with Andrea Kimi Antonelli taking sprint victory and Isack Hadjar winning the feature race. There are no changes to the entry list, though we have an addition to the paddock in the form of F2 editor Martin Lloyd, whom you can follow on X.

Weather forecast: Mostly sunny on Friday. Rain showers likely Saturday and Sunday morning, with a high of 22ºC.

What to know: Silverstone also hosts F3 this weekend for round seven of the 2025 season.

Rafael Câmara still holds the lead in the drivers’ standings with a 28-point gap over Red Bull junior Tim Tramnitz, while Nikola Tsolov sits in third a further four points behind after taking first on track in the Spielberg feature race but later being disqualified.

The Brazilian’s two main rivals will have the advantage of having raced here last season, while Câmara is set to make his Silverstone debut this weekend. The British circuit hosts primarily British-based junior single-seater championships, in which Câmara did not compete.

Last season, Callum Voisin began his impressive streak of results at his home event with a maiden F3 podium in the feature. He will be looking to bounce back after a series of challenging weekends, which have dropped him to ninth in the drivers’ championship.

This weekend will see Nicola Lacorte make his return to the grid after he served his one-round ban for reaching 12 penalty points in Austria, when Nikita Johnson reaplcedd in for him at DAMS. The American is still set to be on the F3 grid in Silverstone – this time with Hitech in place of Jesse Carrasquedo, who is racing in Eurocup-3 this weekend in Monza. From the press: DAMS’ Nicola Lacorte became the first driver in the history of the series to reach 12 licence points in one season, which forced him to miss round six at the Red Bull Ring. In an exclusive interview, the 18-year-old explained the steps he took to come back stronger than before and learn from his mistakes. Read Lacorte’s thoughts on his suspension here.

What to know: The 2025 FR Europe season resumes at the Hungaroring after a month-long break. The circuit returned to the series’ calendar in 2022, and the track action there often represented a turning point in the fight for the drivers’ title.

Championship leader Freddie Slater is the only driver to have taken multiple wins this FR Europe campaign. The Briton has stood on the podium in every single race he finished so far to collect a total of 83 points.

One point behind him is Matteo De Palo, with one win and two further podium finishes to his name. The Trident driver will be eager to regain the lead in the standings after two sixth-place finishes at Zandvoort saw him dethroned. Rounding out the top three is Spa race two winner Enzo Deligny, who claimed one further podium at Zandvoort and has finished every single race so far in the points.

There are a number of driver changes Ahead of the Hungaroring round, Enzo Peugeot announced that he had parted ways with RPM. The French driver’s plans going forward are yet to be determined. Taking his place for the next two rounds is Ean Eyckmans. The 2024 Richard Mille Young Talent Academy shootout winner has competed in Spanish F4 this year, taking seven podiums from 12 races and the points lead among the rookies.

Joining the FR Europe grid from the Hungaroring round are Edu Robinson for G4 Racing and Javier Sagrera for Akcel GP. Robinson made his debut at the regional level at the Portimão round of Eurocup-3 in early June having raced at the F4 level previously. Sagrera’s move to Akcel comes after he left his AIX Racing ride in F3 after two rounds in which he claimed a best finish in 15th. The 21-year-old has taken part in pre-event testing at Zandvoort last month with the team, who, like AIX, have fielded joint entries in other series with the PHM Racing entity.

Enzo Richer will get behind the wheel of Arthur Aegerter’s G4 Racing car in Budapest, making a cameo appearance in the series. The 2024 Ultimate Cup Series F3R champion competed in the Paul Ricard round of Euroformula Open last year, finishing sixth in races two and three.

Zachary David is also competing for the first time with CL Motorsport. The Filipino driver, who finished 14th in the series last year with R-ace GP, was announced as the team’s first driver over the winter but had prioritised his Super Formula Lights commitments previously.

Lastly, Tim Gerhards is missing the round after he fractured his elbow in a bicycle accident. The 17-year-old currently sits 22nd in the standings with a best finish of 17th. Taking his place for the Hungaroring round is Maya Weug, who at present is competing in F1 Academy and is third in the championship with one win and three further podiums to her name. Weug previously finished 17th in the 2023 FR Europe season with six results in the points.

From the press: Kanato Le may not have set the world alight so far in his second season in FR Europe with ART Grand Prix, but he still aims to take a race victory as he did in FR Middle East. The Japanese driver sat down with Feeder Series to talk about his 2025 season and his work with nonprofit Shine for the Children. Read the article here.

Even further from the sharp end of the standings, Édouard Borgna got to celebrate a rookie victory in his first weekend in the series despite finishing only 18th on track. The 20-year-old Frenchman opened up on his unusual and relatively short career in motorsport and explained what he aims to achieve from here. Read his thoughts here.

Weather forecast: Sunny on Friday, with temperatures set to reach 35ºC. Partly cloudy conditions with a chance of rain on Saturday. Thunderstorms likely Sunday afternoon.

What to know: After being absent from last year’s calendar, Monza welcomes back Eurocup-3 to mark the halfway point of the season. Kacper Sztuka on 104 points currently leads both Mattia Colnaghi and Ernesto Rivera in the championship by five points, with the Italian-Argentine driver ahead on countback.

Last time out at Paul Ricard, Garrett Berry and Sztuka won the sprint race and race two respectively to become the sixth and seventh different winners this season. The other win of the weekend came from Colnaghi, who ended the streak of five different winners in as many races, the longest in the championship’s short history, by taking victory in race one.

The last time Eurocup-3 visited the Temple of Speed in 2023, Mari Boya won both races of the weekend for MP Motorsport ahead of Sebastian Øgaard in race one and Javier Sagrera in race two.

Owen Tangavelou moves to Allay Racing this weekend after competing with DX Racing Team at Paul Ricard, achieving a best finish of 11th in the final race of the weekend. His vacated seat will be occupied by Wiktor Dobrzánski. The Polish driver last competed in Eurocup-3 in the opening round in Spielberg, with a best finish of 22nd in race one. Since then, he has scored two best finishes of 23rd in Spanish F4 with Tecnicar.

Spanish F4 driver Juan Cota makes his second of three planned Eurocup-3 appearances this weekend with KCL by MP Motorsport. Like Dobrzánski, the Spanish driver last competed in Spielberg and scored a best finish of 12th in race one. Since then, he scored his first podium of the Spanish F4 season in race two at Portimão. Cota replaces Kai Daryanani, who will be competing in GB3’s Hungary round this weekend with JHR Developments.

After entering but not competing in Paul Ricard, GRS Team and their sole driver Yani Stevenheydens will not appear in Monza this weekend. The Belgian driver is currently 15th in the standings with a best result of seventh in the first race in Spielberg.

Feeder Series will also have representation in the paddock this weekend. For live updates, follow editor Marco on X.

  • 13:51–14:21: Private test 2

Sunday 6 July

  • 11:05–11:30: Race 2
  • 17:40–18:05: Race 3

How to follow: All races will be available to watch on the MSV TV YouTube channel. The stream will also be shown on the GB3 website and Facebook page. Live timing for all sessions is available through the GB3 and Cronococa websites.

Weather forecast: Sunny on Friday and Saturday, with clouds and some showers possible Sunday. Temperatures will exceed 30ºC all weekend and may reach as high as 35ºC Sunday.

What to know: The GB3 Championship completes its mainland Europe leg with a visit to the Hungaroring in Budapest this week, rounding out the first half of the 2025 season.

Drivers from Australia continue to lead the way in the drivers’ championship, with Alex Ninovic of Rodin Motorsport first on 165 points. Patrick Heuzenroeder, representing Xcel Motorsport, is just eight points adrift in second, with Noah Lisle and Gianmarco Pradel fifth and eighth in the standings respectively.

Deagen Fairclough enters the fourth round currently third in the drivers’ championship despite having to start towards the rear of the grid in six of the nine races this season. The 19-year-old Briton has made 83 overtakes this season and will be hoping to close the 32-point gap to Ninovic this weekend.

GB3 will feature a smaller grid of just 16 drivers for this weekend, the series’ sparsest since 2021. Hitech’s Nikita Johnson will not travel to Hungary, as he moves up to the team’s F3 line-up to compete at Silverstone this weekend just a week after making his F3 debut with DAMS in Austria.

Because of the clash with FR Europe, which also races in Budapest this weekend, Xcel’s Dion Gowda and Hillspeed trio of Freddie Slater, Kanato Le and Hiyu Yamakoshi will also not take part. JHR Developments’ Divy Nandan misses out because of funding issues, while Fortec Motorsport’s Stefan Bostandjiev is also not competing.

In particular, the absences of Slater, Le and Johnson – currently fourth, sixth and ninth in the drivers’ standings – provide the rest of the field with a golden opportunity to make up positions in the standings this weekend. But they will have to do so in the most physically demanding race weekend of the season so far, with temperatures expected to reach well above 30ºC on Sunday. Weather forecast: Mostly sunny on Friday and Saturday, with clouds and some showers possible Sunday. Temperatures will exceed 30ºC all weekend and may reach as high as 35ºC Sunday.

What to know: Euroformula Open heads to the Hungaroring for its easternmost round of the season.

With three rounds of the season completed, Motopark’s Yevan David still leads the standings after winning race three at Hockenheim last time out. Eighteen points behind him is teammate Michael Shin, who won race one and finished second in the other two races of the weekend. The other winner from last round, José Garfias, sits fifth in points after winning race two and finishing fourth and third in the remaining races.

Though Motopark drivers won the three races at Hockenheim, BVM Racing’s Tymek Kucharczyk took pole. After tangling with David in race one, however, he did not stand on the podium in race one nor the rest of the weekend, thus dropping to third in points.

Joining the grid for a one-off appearance will be Benjámin Berta, who will drive BVM Racing’s #4 entry, previously raced by Vladislav Ryabov. Berta makes his first appearance in the series since 2023, when he drove for the Motopark-run CryptoTower Racing Team at the Hungaroring.

Evans GP’s Alex Sawer retained his win streak the last time F4 SEA went racing, picking up three more first-place finishes at Buriram. The Vietnamese driver remains first in the championship with 188 points, followed by teammate Seth Gilmore with 108 and BlackArts Racing’s Iñigo Anton with 85.

The rookie championship was taken over by Anton, who secured an overall podium finish in Buriram in race two in addition to the rookie win. Live timing for all sessions is available on the IndyCar website.

Weather forecast: Sunny all weekend.

What to know: Indy NXT holds its eighth round of 2025 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as the feeder series to IndyCar begins the second half of its season.

Dennis Hauger retains the points lead with a 28-point margin over Andretti Global teammate Lochie Hughes after the previous round at Road America. Hauger impressed in qualifying and Hughes pulled off some strong overtakes in the race, but neither could stop Caio Collet from taking his and HMD Motorsports’ first victory of the season after a bold pass for the lead on lap 16 of 20 around the outside of Turn 1.

Collet comes to Mid-Ohio with pedigree, having taken a lights-to-flag maiden series victory from pole at the circuit last year. Prior to his win last time out at Road America, that result was his and HMD’s most recent race win. The Brazilian sits third in the points, 70 behind Hauger.

There are two driver changes for this round, both at HMD Motorsports. Having missed the Road America event to compete in the IMSA SportsCar Championship’s Six Hours at the Glen, Juan Manuel Correa is back behind the wheel of the #39 car. Conversely, Liam Sceats will miss his second event of the season after also sitting out the Gateway event three weeks ago. The New Zealander signed up for the season on a race-by-race basis and has skipped rounds to save budget, Feeder Series understands.

Max Garcia leads the standings after winning two out of three races last time out to extend his championship lead to 72 points over Mac Clark. The Canadian remains winless this year, but he sits second in points after taking eight podiums in 12 races contested so far. One point behind Clark is Ariel Elkin, who won three races earlier this season and is the highest-placed TJ Speed Motorsports driver in points.

Road America’s other victor was Max Taylor, who won race three to exit the round fifth in points. One point behind Taylor sits Jacob Douglas, who doubled his number of podiums in 2025 by taking third- and second-place finishes in the first two races last time out.

Brady Golan will return to the #3 entry of Turn 3 Motorsport, which was previously driven by Joseph Loake in a one-off appearance at Road America while Golan competed in FR Americas. Meanwhile, at Jay Howard Driver Development, Nick Gilkes will make his series debut as he takes over Tanner DeFabis’ car for the next two rounds, including his home event at Mid-Ohio.

One entry that won’t have a replacement, however, is Charles Finelli, whose privateer effort will miss the third-to-last round of the season.

On the driver front, Thomas Schrage and Teddy Musella shared wins in the previous round at Road America and enter Mid-Ohio first and third in points. Between them in points – 27 behind the former and nine ahead of the latter – sits Exclusive Autosport’s Jack Jeffers, who took pole for both races but only managed a best result of seventh in the two races after an accident in race one destroyed his chassis.

Also on the podium at Road America were G3 Argyros and Evan Cooley, who currently sit fourth and sixth respectively in points. Argyros hasn’t finished lower than fifth in the previous six races, while Cooley took his best result yet with second after starting in the top three for both races.

Missing from the entry list relative to the last round are Patricio Gonzalez, Rodrigo Gonzalez, Brenden Cooley, Kaylee Countryman and JT Hoskins, who all returned to their full-season USF Juniors programmes after appearing in Mid-Ohio.

Harley Keeble will also sit out the Mid-Ohio round as Brad Majman returns to the #7 Jay Howard Driver Development car. Thomas Nordquist will likewise return to USF Juniors and will be replaced by 16-year-old series debutant Vaughn Mishko, who has raced in the Mazda MX-5 Cup previously.

As a result, he left the weekend fourth in points, four behind previous points leader Ty Fisher. While Vergara fell back in race two, Liam Loiacono set the fastest lap, as he did in race one, and won the final race of the weekend in treacherous conditions to jump to fifth in points.

Whilst Vergara and Loiacono shared wins, Oliver Wheldon and Leonardo Escorpioni finished on the podium in both races. The latter’s two third-place finishes gave him a seven-point cushion over two-time second-place finisher Wheldon entering this weekend

After a one-off outing for JHDD, Harley Keeble will vacate the #7 car for the second Mid-Ohio round. Also vacating his spot at JHDD is fellow Briton Harry Moss, who will be replaced by British F4 driver Chase Fernandez. Moss and Fernandez were teammates at R Racing in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2024, and in his announcement, Fernandez thanked Moss and his father Harry as well as ‘everyone else involved in making this happen’.

What to know: This weekend marks the first non-championship round in British F4’s history, as well as the first time F1, F2, F3 and FIA F4 have competed at the same event. Limited time on the F1 support bill means that there will be no reverse-grid race this weekend, with race one’s grid set by the second-best times from qualifying and race two’s order determined by the overall qualifying results.

Championship contenders Fionn McLaughlin and Martin Molnár will once again be likely candidates to battle for wins this weekend, with the pair sitting 36.5 and 31 points respectively ahead of Jimmy Piszcyk in third.

Despite recent qualifying struggles for Piszcyk, the Australian driver could prove to be a threat to McLaughlin and Molnár at SIlverstone, having achieved two wins and the F4 qualifying lap record on the grand prix circuit layout during the series’ previous visit in early May.

The high-profile nature of this event has attracted several new and returning drivers to the series, with 26 cars set to take part across this weekend’s proceedings.

A familiar name to those who followed British F4 in 2024, Nina Gademan makes a one-off return to the series, this time joining Hitech. Gademan currently sits eighth in F1 Academy, with six points finishes.

Also coming to the event with F1 Academy experience is Ava Dobson, who joins Chris Dittmann Racing for her first round of British F4. She is currently 18th in the GB4 standings and was the F1 Academy wild card in Miami.

Salim Hanna returns to the grid for his second round of the season, having already chalked up a win in his first appearance at Thruxton. Hanna has also been competing in the Italian F4 championship, in which he is currently fourth in the standings after three rounds.

Also joining from Italian F4 are a trio of drivers from R-ace GP. Guy Albag, Emily Cotty and Oleksandr Savinkov will race for Rodin Motorsport, Fortec Motorsport and Xcel Motorsport respectively. Savinkov sits 25th in the Italian F4 standings with one point, while Albag and Cotty have yet to record a points finish thus far.

Jaber AlSabah will have the rare privilege of making his single-seater debut on the F1 support bill, joining Xcel. AlSabah had raced with the team in karting in the Middle East and participated in testing last month at Silverstone, having tested F4 machinery as far back as the winter of 2024 with the Saudi Arabian F4 series.

There are also four absences relative to the regular grid. Chase Fernandez is racing in USF Juniors this weekend for Jay Howard Driver Development in place of former Ginetta Junior Championship teammate Harry Moss. Also absent from the round are Argenti Motorsport’s Henry Mercier, Xcel Motorsport’s Cole Hewetson and Chris Dittmann Racing’s Alba Hurup Larsen.
