E4: 2025 season guide

Italian F4’s sister series returns for its third edition with a brand new name, E4. Last year as Euro 4, the European Formula 4 series crowned Akshay Bohra as its champion, and now 29 drivers are set to hit the track to try to follow in his footsteps. Feeder Series tells you all you need to know about E4’s 2025 season.

By Francesca Brusa

Created back in 2023 to allow Italian F4 drivers to complete what was effectively a full 10-round championship following ADAC F4’s demise, Euro 4 graduated 14 of its competitors last year to regional-level racing.

Reigning series champion Akshay Bohra is currently competing in FR Europe with R-ace GP and sits eighth in the standings with one podium to his name, while runner-up Freddie Slater is currently just four points off the lead.

Last year’s round at Monza boasted a high public attendance, as well as three different pole sitters and race winners.

The rebranded 2025 E4 campaign promises no less excitement, with a balanced grid of returning racers and enthusiastic rookies. Most of the competitors already participate in Italian F4, so this three-round championship will feature faces familiar to you and to one another.

The calendar

Just as in 2024, the E4 championship calendar underwent some significant changes over the winter. Though the series stuck with Monza and Mugello as its rounds on Italian soil, the international round will become the season’s opener and take track action from the Red Bull Ring in Austria to the Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France.

  • Round 1: Circuit Paul Ricard (18–20 July)
  • Round 2: Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello (12–14 September)
  • Round 3: Autodromo Nazionale Monza (24–26 October)

The format

The 2025 E4 weekend kicks off on Friday, with two free practice sessions lasting 40 minutes each. On the same day, two 15-minute qualifying sessions are held, separated by a 10-minute break.

Qualifying one sets the grid for race one, while qualifying two does the same for the second race. The first race happens on Saturday, while races two and three take place on Sunday.

The grid for race three is decided according to the second-best lap achieved by the drivers in either qualifying session. All races last 30 minutes plus one lap.

Only the top 10 drivers from each race are awarded points, with the winner claiming 25 and the remainder 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 in descending order. No points are awarded for pole position or fastest lap.

Where to watch

Free practice and qualifying sessions are only accessible via live timing. The three races each weekend, however, will be live-streamed on the E4 YouTube and Facebook channels and the ACI Sport website

Teams and drivers

Prema Racing

In 2024, Prema Racing failed to secure the drivers’ title, but they still brought home the teams’ and the rookies’ championships. The Grisignano di Zocco–based squad is currently leading the teams’ standings in sister series Italian F4, with 477 points to their name and an advantage of 211 over nearest rival US Racing.

Sticking with Prema Racing for the three-round series is London-born Kean Nakamura-Berta (#51). The 17-year-old is currently first in the points in Italian F4, having claimed seven wins and two further podiums so far. Last year, Nakamura-Berta was crowned rookie champion in Euro 4 thanks to his outright win in race two at Monza and two further podiums, and he finished third in the overall standings.

Joining the Japanese-Slovakian driver is Sebastian Wheldon (#98), his nearest rival in Italian F4. Thus far, the 16-year-old has achieved victory three times in his main campaign, stepping on the podium three further times. The American started working with Prema Racing last fall ahead of his Formula Trophy UAE appearance and continued with them earlier this year in F4 Middle East, claiming one podium and 11 further points finishes.

Salim Hanna (#88) will continue his partnership with the Italian outfit for this championship as well, having been linked with them since karting. The 15-year-old Colombian is currently sixth in Italian F4 and leading the rookie standings with three overall podiums to his name. Hanna debuted in single-seaters in late 2024 by taking part in the Formula Trophy UAE, in which he finished seventh, before coming sixth overall in F4 Middle East a couple months later.

Zhenrui Chi (#28) also has longstanding Prema links and will also continue working with the Italian team for his E4 debut. The 17-year-old from China started racing for them last year in Formula Trophy UAE, in which he claimed two podium finishes to come fifth in the standings. Chi is currently ninth in Italian F4 with one win and one further podium.

Oleksandr Bondarev (#27) is also set to debut in the championship, after having stepped up from karts to cars with the team in late 2024. This year, the 16-year-old Williams junior sits 19th in Italian F4, having finished in the points four times. He also joined forces with Prema Racing for the 2025 F4 Middle East season and finished 12th with 10 points finishes to his name.

US Racing

Last year, US Racing’s Akshay Bohra was crowned Euro 4 champion despite finishing fourth in sister series Italian F4. The team went on to claim the runner-up spot in the teams’ standings, only 29 points short of Prema. The Kerpen-based squad is currently second in Italian F4 with a haul of 266 points.

Gabriel Gomez (#78) is set to stick with US Racing for their latest season together. The 2025 FWS champion first appeared in Euro 4 last year, competing in the series’ first round at Mugello with a best finish of 12th in race two. Gomez, 18, is currently third in the standings in Italian F4 with one win and six further podiums.

Joining the Brazilian racer is Kabir Anurag (#19). The 17-year-old Alpine junior from Singapore has been partnered with the German outfit since his first full campaign in single-seaters in FWS in 2024. He returned to the series earlier this year, bagging two wins and two further podiums to come fourth in the standings. Anurag has so far claimed six points finishes in Italian F4 2025, a run of form that puts him 15th in the championship.

Andrija Kostić (#4) is also set to remain with US Racing for this E4 season. The 16-year-old Serbian made the switch to the Kerpen-based team in early 2025 by taking part in FWS, in which he finished 11th with five points finishes. Kostić is currently 16th in Italian F4, having achieved six points finishes with a best result of fifth.

Aryaman Bansal (#46) rounds out the German outfit’s line-up for E4 2025. The 15-year-old made his single-seater debut last year in the season finale of the Spanish F4 championship. At present, he competes in GB4, in which he is second in the standings with three wins and two further podiums to his name, and in British F4’s Challenge Cup for part-time entrants.

Van Amersfoort Racing

In the 2024 Euro 4 season, Van Amersfoort Racing shone among the teams thanks to phenomenal performances by now–FR Europe racer Hiyu Yamakoshi, who bagged two wins and two further podiums, and Gustav Jonsson, who had three top-three finishes to his name. The Dutch outfit came third in the series last year with 153 points in total, and they occupy the same spot currently in Italian F4, at a 58-point distance from US Racing.

Sticking with the Zeewolde-based squad is Maksimilian Popov (#3). The 16-year-old Italian-licenced racer joined forces with VAR in early 2025 for his FWS campaign, claiming two podiums and six further points finishes. In his main campaign in Italian F4 this year, Popov has scored three podiums so far to sit seventh in the standings.

Also making up VAR’s line-up is Aleksander Ruta (#38). The 16-year-old Polish driver made his single-seater debut earlier this year in FWS with Cram Motorsport, taking two finishes in the points after switching to VAR for the final round. The Polish driver is currently 21st overall with the team in Italian F4, with three points finishes, and eighth among the rookies.

Also joining the series as a rookie is Dante Vinci (#66). The 16-year-old debuted in single-seaters in the 2024 Italian F4 season finale, securing a best finish of 19th. This year, the Sydney native stuck with the championship and so far has four points finishes to his name, putting him fifth in the rookies’ standings. He also competed in FWS in early 2025, likewise finishing four times in the points.

Payton Westcott (#94) will continue her partnership with Van Amersfoort in E4 after having joined the team for her single-seater debut in FWS earlier this year. The 16-year-old American is currently competing in Italian F4, sitting 41st in the standings with a best finish of 20th.

Rounding out the Dutch outfit’s line-up is Andre Rodriguez (#37). The 17-year-old already got acquainted with much of the grid by taking part in the Monza round of Italian F4 in late June with Cram Motorsport, securing a best finish of 23rd. He made his F4 debut with the team two weeks before as a guest driver at Spanish F4’s Portimāo round, claiming a best result of 26th.

PHM Racing

Having ended the 2024 season with Davide Larini’s second position in race three at Monza, PHM Racing managed to snatch fourth place in the Euro 4 teams’ championship from Jenzer Motorsport. In 2025, the Berlin-based squad have opted for change.

Reno Francot (#69) is the only racer PHM Racing are set to field for the opening E4 round at Le Castellet. The 17-year-old already participated in the series’ finale in 2024 with Jenzer Motorsport, achieving a best finish of 12th in race three. The Dutchman got acquainted with the team during his campaign in F4 Middle East earlier this year, snatching one win and three further podiums along the way to finish fifth in the standings. He also joined in the final two rounds of the F4 Spanish Winter championship, claiming points in all races at Portimao, and in Spain’s main F4 season, in which he’s 6th with two podiums and three rounds to go. Last weekend, Francot made a comeback to the Italian F4 grid with PHM at Mugello, claiming two podiums.

Jenzer Motorsport

In 2024, Jenzer Motorsport stood out from the rest of the grid in the first round of Euro 4 by taking an outright podium in race three with Ethan Ischer. However, the Helvetian squad failed to maintain consistency throughout the rest of the rounds and had to settle for fifth in the teams’ championship.

Bart Harrison (#77) is the first driver Jenzer Motorsport will field in E4 this year. The 17-year-old first raced on Italian soil for the final round of Italian F4 in 2024, collecting a best result of 15th. The York native went on to compete in FWS earlier this year, scoring two podiums in the final two races at Barcelona, and is currently 14th in Italian F4 with one podium and four further points finishes to his name.

Sticking with Jenzer Motorsport for another campaign is Enea Frey (#20), who has been racing for the team since the start of 2024. This year, the 16-year-old took part in his second FWS campaign, finishing ninth with eight points finishes to his name. He is currently 18th in Italian F4, having claimed five points finishes so far. Switzerland’s Frey competed in last year’s Euro 4 season, in which he came 17th with one finish in the points.

Entering the series as a rookie is Teo Schropp (#21). The Argentine made his debut in European racing this year by joining Jenzer for the first F4 CEZ round, in which he claimed points once, before continuing with them for the Italian F4 season. He is currently 22nd in the overall standings in his main campaign with two points finishes to his name.

Rounding out Jenzer’s line-up for the 2025 E4 season is Bader Al Sulaiti (#26). After having taken part in F4 Middle East earlier this year, finishing in the points once, the Qatari racer debuted in Italian F4, in which he sits 28th with two best finishes of 11th.

R-ace GP

Last year in Euro 4, R-ace GP finished seventh among the teams, tied with Hitech, who only participated in the Red Bull Ring round. Through the winter, however, the La Rochelle–based squad underwent significant changes, which helped them secure the teams’ and drivers’ championship in F4 Middle East. Will the French outfit be able to turn their luck around in E4 in 2025 as well?

Sticking with R-ace GP is Alex Powell (#41). The 17-year-old Mercedes junior joined the team earlier this year for the F4 Middle East championship, in which he claimed the runner-up spot thanks to five wins and four further podiums. He is currently fourth in Italian F4 after a phenomenal showing at Mugello that saw the Miami native claim two wins and one further podium in addition to the second place he achieved in race three at Vallelunga. Last year, Powell achieved his first win in formula racing with Prema in Monza in his only Euro 4 podium appearance, which helped put him ninth in the overall standings.

Oleksandr Savinkov (#52) is also set to continue his partnership with the team from La Rochelle in E4 in 2025. The 16-year-old spent the entirety of his first year in single-seaters with AKM Motorsport before making the switch to R-ace for the 2025 F4 Middle East championship, in which he finished 11th with 10 results in the points. Savinkov has so far claimed one points finish in Italian F4, a result that puts him 26th in the standings.

Joining the Ukrainian-licenced driver is Guy Albag (#44). The 16-year-old Israeli driver debuted in single-seaters in the Valencia round of FWS earlier this year, finishing 14th in race one. He is currently racing with R-ace GP in Italian F4, in which he sits 34th with a best finish of 14th.

Emily Cotty (#42) rounds out R-ace GP’s line-up for E4 in 2025. The 15-year-old joined the French outfit earlier this year for the F4 Middle East championship, in which she claimed two points finishes that put her 21st in the standings. At present, the British racer sits 37th in Italian F4 with a best result of 16th in race two at Vallelunga.

Real Racing

In 2024, Real Racing joined the E4 grid with a one-car entry and ended up claiming three points as well as eighth position among the teams.

This result was possible thanks to the effort of Luca Viisoreanu (#11), who will stick with the Romanian outfit for his second season in the series. The 16-year-old Romanian is currently sitting 20th in Italian F4 after a remarkable result of fourth in race three at Monza, which came in addition to a ninth-place finish in race three at Vallelunga. He also took his maiden single-seater victory in race three of F4 CEZ’s first round in April.

AKM Motorsport

After months of testing, AKM Motorsport are ready to return to open-wheel racing for the 2025 E4 campaign. The Sammarinese squad preferred to stick to the three-round series instead of launching into a full Italian F4 season like they did in the past. AKM Motorsport are set to field an all-rookie line-up in continuity with what they did in 2024, when they claimed two points to finish ninth among the teams.

Evan Michelini (#43) was the first driver announced for the team in the championship. The Italian-born, Costa Rican–licenced karting graduate has been testing F4 machinery since last year and will make his single-seater debut this weekend.

Sticking with AKM Motorsport is Ginevra Panzeri (#12). The 16-year-old participated in the second half of the 2025 FWS season, in which she claimed a best finish of 17th in the final race.

Rounding out the San Marino–based team’s line-up is Abdullah Kamel (#99). The Saudi Arabian driver made his single-seater debut in early 2025 by taking part in F4 Middle East, achieving a best result of 15th to come 26th in the championship.
