Did you think the busiest days of the year in motorsport were behind us? Think again. Summer in the northern hemisphere ends with a bang as 13 junior single-seater series take to the track. Find out how to watch them all here.

Formula 1 is back this weekend in Baku, and F2 will follow it along for its final race before a break of more than two months. But rather than steal the spotlight as in many of its flyaways, F2 shares the junior single-seater spotlight this weekend with 12 other series across Europe, Asia and North America.
Having already been home to F1 Academy’s rookie test earlier this week, Spain remains the centerpiece of the European racing action this weekend. Euroformula Open joins FRegional Europe and Italian F4 in Barcelona for a rare itinerary of three series below F3. Eurocup-3 and Spanish F4, meanwhile, race on the other side of Spain in Jerez, the latter for the first time since June. British F4 is the exception on the European continent, racing at Silverstone with an altered title race following the overturning of a penalty for one leading contender.
In Asia, Japanese F4 supports Super GT at Sugo this weekend, while F4 SEA holds its final event of the season at Sepang with a champion on the brink of being crowned. There’s plenty of racing stateside too, with FR Americas, F4 US and the Ligier Junior Formula Championship holding two races each at Virginia International Raceway in addition to NACAM F4’s penultimate round at Puebla.
The packed schedule means that for the final time this year, our weekend review will be split into two parts: a review of the six regional- and national-level series in Europe on Monday morning, and a review of the six Asian and American series midday Tuesday. Our review of the F2 action in Baku will be published separately.

Weather forecast: Mixed weather across the weekend. Sunny Friday. Cloudy Saturday and Sunday, with rain showers possible from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning.
What to know: Formula 2’s 12th round at Baku is the last before the season-ending double-header two months from now.
For only the second time this year, both of the 2024 winners – sprint race winner Joshua Dürksen and feature race victor Richard Verschoor – are still driving in the series. Jak Crawford, Victor Martins and Gabriele Minì will also attempt to replicate their podium success from last year.
With three rounds – six races – remaining, Leonardo Fornaroli holds a 21-point lead in the championship, but current second-place driver Luke Browning’s conversion of his maiden pole to his first F2 victory in Monza has placed him firmly in contention for the title. Verschoor is the only other driver still within a weekend’s worth of points from the championship lead, sitting 30 points behind Fornaroli’s 174.
Trident have opted for an entirely new line-up following the conclusion of the F3 season in Monza, parting ways with Sami Meguetounif and Max Esterson in favor of Laurens van Hoepen (#22) and McLaren-backed Martinius Stenshorne (#23). Stenshorne finished the F3 season fifth in the championship with two wins and a further three podiums; Van Hoepen took two podiums on his way to 12th. Trident is currently last in the teams’ standings with just two points.

What to know: FRegional Europe kicks off the eighth round of its 2025 campaign at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, home of F1’s Spanish Grand Prix.
Despite not scoring any points in race one at the Red Bull Ring last time out and momentarily losing the points lead, Freddie Slater is back atop the championship standings with five wins and three further podiums.
Only three points away, however, is current runner-up Matteo De Palo. For the first time since the start of the season, the Rome native failed to score points in a race after his retirement from race two in Austria, but he claimed his third victory of the season in race one. He also has four further podiums to his name.
Third in the standings is Enzo Deligny, who hasn’t stepped off the podium since race one in Imola. He has collected seven top-three finishes thus far, including two wins.
Prema Racing will field another Mercedes junior as a wild card this weekend after introducing Alex Powell to the series last time out in Austria. Yuanpu Cui (#56) is set to return to the Italian outfit after having competed with partnered entity Argenti by Prema in GB3 earlier this year. In that championship, he sits 17th with 122 points to his name. As a wildcard in FR Europe, Cui will be ineligible for points.
RPM’s rookies Ean Eyckmans and Reno Francot will be busy with the Jerez round of Spanish F4 this weekend. Therefore, the Italian-based, Irish-owned squad will field Macéo Capietto (#21) and Santiago Ramos (#74) in Barcelona. The two drivers have already partnered with RPM in 2023, when they scored one podium each to come eighth and 11th in the standings in their full campaigns. Capietto raced in FR Europe earlier this year with CL Motorsport in Spa, where he secured a best finish of 19th in race two, while Ramos returns after an F3 campaign cut short one round early.
CL Motorsport was to field a two-car line-up comprising Michael Belov and Enea Frey, who debuted in the series with the team at Red Bull Ring, but the Swiss driver will sit this round out for medical reasons. He is not set to be replaced, nor will Chi Zhenrui, who returns to his Italian F4 campaign after driving the team’s third car in Austria.

What to know: Euroformula Open heads to Barcelona for its second-to-last weekend of the season.
Having finished third in all three races last time out at Spielberg, Tymek Kucharczyk continues to lead the standings on 277 points, 10 ahead of race one winner Michael Shin, who closed in on the Pole in Austria with a win followed up by a second and a fifth.
Despite winning race two last time out, Yevan David dropped from second to third in points, 31 behind Kucharczyk, after picking up a puncture at the start of race three that dropped him out of the points. Motopark teammate José Garfias is 36 points behind Kucharczyk, having taken two second-place finishes and a fourth place across the weekend.
The only other driver to have stood on the podium in Austria was Motopark’s Everett Stack, who held off Garfias in race three to take his maiden win in single-seaters.
At Motopark, Fernando Barrichello will return to his race seat after his F3 cameo at Monza, while Luca Viișoreanu will head back to Italian F4 this weekend. Meanwhile at Nielsen Racing, Francisco Soldavini and Ricardo Baptista will be replaced by Theo Micouris (#7).
Nineteen-year-old British-Cypriot Micouris will make his single-seater return after his debut in GB4 at the end of 2023. In the meantime, he has competed in sports cars, winning the 2024 Ligier European Series title. He currently races in the LMP3 class of the Le Mans Cup, in which he sits seventh in points.
Elsewhere, BVM Racing will add a third car for Enzo Yeh (#77), who will make his Euroformula Open debut this weekend and will also drive for the Italian team at Monza next month. The Taiwanese driver, who will turn 17 on Sunday, raced in FR Europe for most of the year with RPM before leaving the team shortly before the round in Spielberg two weeks ago.
NV Racing and Paolo Brajnik will also be absent after racing in the five of the first six rounds of the season. In those events, Brajnik, the series’ sole Gold Cup competitor, scored six points, with best finishes of ninth at Spa and the Hockenheimring.
Report by Marco Albertini

From the press: Four drivers made their Euroformula Open debuts at Spielberg last time out, all from markedly different backgrounds. The common thread? The series’ Dallara 324 car provided a challenge they all desired. How to follow: All races will be streamed on the Eurocup-3 YouTube channel. All sessions will have live timing on Al Kamel Systems.
Weather forecast: Warm and sunny all weekend, with temperatures reaching as high as 35ºC Friday and Saturday.
What to know: Eurocup-3 once again holds its penultimate round at Jerez, where it will be joined by support series Spanish F4 after its summer break. It is also set to be the series’ final visit to Jerez, which does not feature on the provisional 2026 Eurocup-3 calendar.
Championship leader Mattia Colnaghi has a 48-point lead over teammate Valerio Rinicella, whose points-scoring streak of 12 races ended in the rainy first race at Spa. As a result, no driver will have scored in every race this season, a feat still achieved only by Sebastian Øgaard in 2023.
When the series’ teams and drivers last visited Jerez for the opening round of the Spanish Winter Championship, Colnaghi and Maciej Gładysz each took a victory and a third place. On that occasion, the Italian driver left as the championship leader thanks to a seventh-place finish in the sprint race.
Tecnicar join the Eurocup-3 grid this weekend in preparation for their first full season next year. They will field a single car for Ariel Elkin (#22), who finished runner-up in this year’s USF Pro 2000 Championship with three wins and three further podiums.
With Filippo Fiorentino, Wiktor Dobrzański and Christopher Feghali returning to Spanish F4 this weekend, Drivex have downsized to a three-car lineup, and Alan Orzynski (#17) will occupy Dobrzański’s vacated seat. The Mexican driver is currently second in this year’s Skip Barber Race Series, taking nine podiums including a win in the most recent race.
Lastly, Brazilian F4 championship leader Heitor Dall’Agnol (#5) will replace Luciano Morano at Palou Motorsport this weekend. In that series, the Brazilian driver is on 104 points and has a 45-point advantage over Murilo Rocha after taking two wins and two further podiums in the first two rounds.

- 17:50–18:22: Race 3
How to follow: Free practice and qualifying sessions are only accessible via live timing. The races, however, will be live-streamed on the Italian F4 YouTube and Facebook channels and the ACI Sport website.
Weather forecast: Warm and sunny on Friday; cloudy with a low chance of showers on Saturday. Thunderstorms likely on Sunday.
What to know: The Italian F4 grid heads to Barcelona for the penultimate round of the 2025 season.
Having just snatched sister series E4’s points lead, Kean Nakamura-Berta will hope to maintain his momentum in his main campaign. He is first in the standings with seven wins and four further podiums to his name, four of which he has achieved in the two most recent rounds.
Last time out, Gabriel Gomez stormed to second in the standings, claiming one win and one fourth-place finish in Imola. With that victory, the Florianópolis native added to his existing tally of one win and six further podiums.
Fresh off his first single-seater win in three months last weekend in E4, Sebastian Wheldon currently sits third in the standings but hasn’t scored a top-three finish in Italian F4 since race two in Monza two rounds ago. He has collected three wins and three further podiums thus far.
The close proximity to last week’s E4 round at Mugello means some familiar faces will join the Italian F4 grid for the weekend, while there are a litany of other driver changes after the summer break. Making their debuts in the series this weekend are Mathilda Paatz (#86) and Andy Consani (#10), for Mathilda Racing by AS Motorsport and R-ace GP respectively.
Cologne native Paatz joined forces with the Slovenian outfit earlier this year in Formula Winter Series, in which she claimed two best finishes of 14th, and raced for her family team last weekend in E4. Consani, on the other hand, has been testing with R-ace GP for the whole year and will hope to put to good use the results he achieved in Mugello, which included a points finish in race one.
Two other drivers are set to return to Italian F4. Andre Rodriguez (now with #16) will reunite with Cram Motorsport, with whom he already partnered for the Monza round. Jan Koller is coming back to the series after he had to distance himself from racing for personal reasons. Having missed the last two rounds, the US Racing driver is currently 33rd in the series with a best result of 13th.
Finally, two drivers are changing teams, Luca Viișoreanu will switch from Real Racing to R-ace GP after the Romanian team and the Romanian driver parted ways. Viișoreanu sits 20th in the championship with two points finishes to his name.
Ludovico Busso will join US Racing, meanwhile, as Viola Formula Racing will not be fielding any cars. The Sicilian driver has yet to score points in Italian F4 and has a best result of 14th as of now. He has already partnered with the Kerpen-based squad last weekend at Mugello, where he achieved a best finish of 12th in race one.
With the Italian outfit sitting this round out, Arthur Lorimier is also not competing in Barcelona, nor is Jenzer Motorsport’s Javier Herrera, who previously announced he was only taking part in selected rounds of the championship.
Skipping the only international round of the championship are 12th-placed Reno Francot, who will be competing in Jerez for Spanish F4, and 26th-placed Oleksandr Savinkov, who will race in British F4’s Silverstone round.
Enea Frey, who was supposed to return to the FR Europe grid this weekend with CL Motorsport, was advised to rest following medical advice and therefore will not be competing in either series this weekend.
Maxim Rehm is also set to sit out the Barcelona weekend. Feeder Series understands that there was a rupture between the German team and the German driver, who were supposed to join forces for the E4 championship but never actually did. Rehm is currently 18th in the standings with 27 points to his name.
Francesco Pio Coppola will not take part in this weekend’s Italian F4 round because his car is still undergoing mechanical checks following the major start-line pile-up that caused race two in Imola to be cancelled. Technorace will therefore field no cars in Barcelona, but both team and driver will be back in Misano, Coppola confirmed.

Weather forecast: Warm and sunny all weekend, with temperatures reaching as high as 35ºC Friday and Saturday.
What to know: After a three-month summer break, Spanish F4’s teams and drivers return to the Circuito de Jerez for the second time in 2025. They visited Jerez back in February during the Eurocup-4 Spanish Winter Championship, in which Jan Przyrowski took two wins from pole position.
Last time out at Le Castellet, championship leader Thomas Strauven bookended his weekend with victories to extend his advantage at the top of the standings to 101 points, capitalising on suboptimal weekends for championship rivals Przyrowski and René Lammers. The Belgian driver now has 234 points, and his podium streak currently stands at 10.
Strauven’s fellow countryman Ean Eyckmans, fourth in the standings, notably finished second in every race at Le Castellet. His own podium tally of seven surpasses those of Pryzrowski and Lammers, who have taken six and five podiums respectively.
G4 Racing return to the Spanish F4 grid after six seasons away, signing 16-year-old twin brothers Philippe Armand Karras (#12) and Jean-Paul Karras (#13). The French-Greek pair previously competed in the first round of the season with Saintéloc Racing before being withdrawn from the final race of the weekend.
Two drivers make their single-seater debuts this weekend. Fifteen-year-old British driver Lewis Wherrell (#6) will replace Sacha van ’t Pad Bosch at Tecnicar’s satellite team T-Code, whilst 16-year-old Miquel Blascos (#25) replaces Francisco Monarca at Monlau Motorsport, with whom he has competed in Spain’s national karting championship.
Two Brazilian drivers also join the grid this weekend. DX Racing Team will field F1 Academy driver Rafaela Ferreira (#15) in lieu of Ricardo Baptista, whilst at TC Racing, Rogério Grotta (#88) replaces Santiago Baztarrica for the rest of the season. Ferreira is currently 11th in the F1 Academy standings, whilst Grotta is currently ninth in the Brazilian F4 standings with Cavaleiro Sports.

Weather forecast: Mostly overcast, with rain likely Saturday and possible Sunday. Temperatures will decrease over the weekend from highs of 22ºC on Friday to 13ºC on Sunday.
What to know: British F4 returns to the Silverstone circuit for the third time this year, this time on the National layout for the penultimate round of the championship. Red Bull junior Fionn McLaughlin clinched the Rookie Cup title last time out at Donington Park and currently leads the overall standings by 34.5 points.
A recently overturned penalty from race three at Donington Park meant Martin Molnár was re-instated to second, in turn putting the Hungarian back in front of Jimmy Piszcyk in the championship standings – though the pair remain separated by just 11 points.
The standout driver from Donington Park was McLaren junior Dries Van Langendonck, who took pole position in his first competitive session in single-seaters before taking the title of youngest British F4 race winner the following day.
Piotr Orzechowski departs from Chris Dittmann Racing this weekend after his second appearance in the championship, having spent the majority of the year competing in karting in Italy and Poland. Guy Albag will also be absent this weekend, as he will return to Italian F4 after competing in the previous two rounds with Rodin.
Ella Lloyd and Alba Larsen return to Rodin and CDR respectively, having each missed round eight to compete in the F1 Academy round at Zandvoort. Lloyd currently leads the Challenge Cup by 3.5 points over Ary Bansal – though with one fewer round remaining in which she is eligible to compete.
Also returning to the grid this weekend is Haarni Sadiq as part of his limited campaign with JHR Developments.

Weather forecast: Rainy on Thursday; cloudy on Friday. Rain expected on both Saturday and Sunday.
What to know: Three races await Japanese F4 going into its fourth round of the season at Sugo this weekend. Kageyama Racing’s win streak of five came to an end in the previous round at Suzuka when Honda-backed B-Max Racing driver Kotaro Shimbara won the second race.
Toyota-juniors Tokiya Suzuki and Kiyoshi Umegaki visited Sugo three weeks ago for FRegional Japan’s fourth round, and both took wins. And should Shimbara repeat the strong performances he showcased at Suzuka, championship leader Itsuki Sato’s status as the one to beat could finally crumble.
There is a small chance that Sato could win the title this weekend. He currently leads the championship with 123.5 points and has a 39.5-point gap to Suzuki behind, with a maximum of 75 points up for grabs this weekend. Should Sato extend the gap over second to 100 points, he would be crowned champion.
There are several driver changes this weekend. In the Champion Class, Kodai Yoshida (#48) joins Yuji Ide’s returning team Ragno Motor Sport. Yoshida raced for the T.sTechno RF outfit in Super FJ prior to his F4 debut.
At Dr.Dry Racing, Kyojo Cup points leader Rio Shimono will be replaced by Rikuto Toyoshima (#87), who has been active in Super FJ since 2023. Toyoshima spent 2025 in the F110 Cup and came fourth in the drivers’ championship, racing for T.sTechno RF. At the end of 2024, he took part in the Super Formula Lights post-season test, driving for Albrex Racing.
Team 5Zigen and its drivers Sena Yamamoto and Motohiro Kotani are absent from this weekend’s round, as is Buzz Racing’s Aoto Nagahara. Along with Kotani, Helm Motorsports’ Go Shimizu is absent in the Independent Class.

Alex Sawer has maintained a hefty advantage in the drivers’ championship and now stands on the precipice of the title. He leads with 295 points after taking all but two wins, followed by Seth Gilmore with 203 points. If Gilmore is unable to secure both pole positions this weekend, Sawer will already take the championship title on Saturday morning.
Evans GP now have an insurmountable gap in the teams’ championship, with a whopping 178-point lead over BlackArts Racing. Evans’ drivers, Sawer and Gilmore, are likely to finish 1-2 for the team.
In the rookies’ championship, Iñigo Anton can win as early as race one if he outscores Vietnamese driver Ben Anh Nguyễn, who is 69 points behind him.
Twenty-year-old Rafael Vaessen (#68) will be making his single-seater debut in the season finale. Having tested with Evans GP at Sepang, the Singaporean will be replacing Kyuho Lee, who competed in the fourth round but will return to Spanish F4 this weekend.
Making his return this weekend after missing the previous round, Ayrton Asdathorn rejoins a close battle for the top places in the championship. The Star Performance driver sits fifth currently, with a point separating him from Wang Zhongwei in sixth.
BlackArts Racing’s Rishon Rajeev will not be driving this weekend, ending an impressive season one round early. He is in third place with 156 points, one point above Anton. Last time out in Canada, Titus Sherlock swept the weekend by winning all three races, meaning he enters this weekend’s round third in points, 11.5 from points leader Bruno Ribeiro. The Brazilian comes off a disappointing weekend in which he failed to score points in the first two races before finishing second in race three.
Between Ribeiro and Sherlock is Nicolás Ambiado, who finished second in race one and scored points in the other two races to leave Mosport four points behind Ribeiro. Also on the podium that weekend were Jett Bowling and Connor Roberts, who each scored two podiums last time out.
Bowling, who currently sits fourth in points, qualified on pole for race one but fell to 10th after an off-track excursion in the later stages of the race.
Following a one-off appearance last time out in Canada, Callum Baxter will vacate the third Atlantic Racing seat, while Jake Pollack will also leave the series as he vacates his Crosslink Motorsports seat.
Pollack will be replaced by 23-year-old American Landan Matriano Lim (#5), who will return to the series in which he competed full-time last year, taking a best result of fourth on his way to eighth in points.
Also making his series debut is 24-year-old American Christian Brooks (#95), who returns to racing after a year out. Brooks most recently raced in the last eight rounds of last year’s Indy NXT season with HMD Motorsports, a stint highlighted by three fifth-place finishes.

After winning all three races last time out at Mosport, Kiwi Motorsport’s Cooper Shipman leads the standings by 47 points over Kekai Hauanio. The Crosslink Motorsports driver finished fourth, third and second at Mosport, and he now comes to the track where he enjoyed his best weekend in F4 US in 2023. Regardless, Shipman will wrap up the title if he has 50 points or more in hand over Hauanio.
Alex Popow Jr stood on the podium in all three races at Mosport to close to just 21.5 points behind Hauanio. The only other driver to take a podium was Clemente Huerta, who finished third in race one for his fifth podium of the season. He now enters Virginia fifth in the standings, just half a point behind Caleb Campbell.
One new driver will join the field, bringing the entry list to nine. Jonathan Cottrill (#32) will race for Rase Motorsports, who last competed with Ty Arbogast at Road America in May. The 18-year-old American has raced previous-generation F4 machinery in Colorado Region SCCA competitions.

Weather forecast: Sunny all weekend.
What to know: The Ligier Junior Formula Championship enters its fifth round of the season at the Virginia International Raceway this weekend, and its first round with only two instead of three scheduled races.
Championship leader Gastón Irazú of Champagne Racing further extended his championship lead at the previous round at New Jersey, when he won both races. The Uruguayan could clinch his second title in single-seaters this weekend after he took the Formula FARA title in 2024.
Currently leading with 190 points and sitting on a 42-point gap over second-placed Drew Szuch of Berg Racing, Irazú needs to extend the gap to 51 points post-weekend to wrap up the title a round early. The season finale at Barber Motorsports Park will likewise have just two races and award a maximum of 50 points.
There are a handful of driver changes this weekend. Crosslink Motorsport will have its third different driver this weekend, as debutant William Rohan (#34) replaces Josh Griffith. Rohan, 16, recently earned his competition licence and completed several weeks of testing.
Berg Racing will extend its line-up from two to four cars, as the team adds Alex Berg (#98) and Ronan Bray (#08) for this weekend. Berg joins his family-run team, having previously raced in the opening four rounds of GB4 with Graham Brunton Racing and taken one win in a reverse-race at Donington. He is familiar with the Ligier JS F416, having taken a race win with the car in his second F4 US season in 2023. Bray joins the team for the remaining two rounds after having previously tested with the team at VIR in July.
Notably, Brazilian driver Daniel Cará and his father-owned team Cará Origin Motorsports are absent from this weekend’s round. as is LC Racing’s Jordyn Martin, who only made her debut at the previous round at New Jersey. Cará sat third overall on 126 points and could have mathematically won the title, but his absence reduces the title fight to four drivers.

Last time out in Mexico City, points leader Zaky Ibrahim finished no lower than sixth but didn’t score a podium all weekend, yet he limited the damage in the championship because nearest rival Fernando Luque did not score in race one. Three different drivers took wins, with Alex Bobadilla’s and Marco Alquicira’s victories in races two and three of the weekend respectively solidifying their positions inside the championship top five.
Behind Ibrahim in second is Luque, who stood on the podium twice last time out after his retirement. José Martínez is also still in the championship battle after taking two top-five finishes.
Also on the podium during the weekend were Alan Zezatti and Fernando Rivera, who scored one podium each.
One-off participant Vivek Kanthan, who won race one on his debut, will return to Spanish F4 with Campos this weekend. Meanwhile, Oliver Trejo (#90) is on this round’s entry list for RAM Racing as he is set to make his series debut after a no-show in the season opener for HRI Racing. Ivanna Richards, who drove for HRI in the first two rounds, will move to Alessandros Racing.
