The Formula Regional Middle East Trophy and UAE4 Series come to a close on Friday with a mid-week event at Lusail, while the Formula Winter Series reaches its midpoint with a round at Valencia.

It’s mid-February, and the traditional winter championship season is starting to wind down. With F3’s pre-season testing taking place in Barcelona this week, several of the regular FR Middle East competitors have already flown back to Europe, leaving a jumbled grid for the final round of the first series to use the second-generation FRegional car.

Those come alongside the two F4-spec winter series currently running, both of which have a number of driver changes of their own. UAE4 runs on Thursday and Friday in Qatar before FWS holds its competitive sessions on Saturday and Sunday in Valencia. Keep reading to find out what’s coming up and what’s at stake in each series.

What to know: All three titles of the 2026 FR Middle East Trophy will be decided in the series’ finale in Qatar.

Rashid Al Dhaheri is looking to secure the drivers’ title at the Lusail International Circuit. The Emirati driver has led the standings since the first race weekend, though his advantage has been cut to 24 points after he failed to score a podium in all three races of round three.

His closest rival is Kean Nakamura-Berta, who also leads the rookie standings by 34 points. The 18-year-old is trying to help the Mumbai Falcons squad take home the teams’ crown too, though the Indian-based team are 33 points behind R-ace GP.

MP Motorsport currently split them, with a 30-point disadvantage to overcome. Their lead driver, Alexander Abkhazava, is also fighting for the drivers’ title and is now 30 points adrift of Al Dhaheri after claiming his second win last time out.

The only driver for this round comes at ART Grand Prix, where F2 signing Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak will replace Taito Kato while the Japanese driver participates in F3 testing.

What to know: UAE4 heads to Qatar for its final round with three drivers still in contention for the title. Oleksandr Bondarev has 157 points, 24 more than primary challenger Andy Consani. But with 25 points available in all three races, the championship isn’t clinched yet, and Kenzo Craigie has an outside chance from 55 points behind.

Consani and Craigie’s strong performances mean R-ace GP lead the teams’ battle, but Bondarev and Aksoy have kept the Mumbai Falcons only 32 points behind, with 129 points to play for. At 97 points behind R-ace, Prema need a miracle to overturn their deficit.

The Dubai round saw Craigie and Christian Costoya – first and second respectively in the rookie standings – take their first single-seater victories. Having won at least one race in each round, Bondarev remains the season’s only repeat winner, but another new circuit could elevate the rookies to the top of the timesheets again.

Several female drivers have left the series to take part in an F1 Academy pre-season test, understood to be at Shanghai. Sun Anzhe (#25) will return for his second round with Pinnacle Motorsport, replacing Kaylee Countryman, while Emma Felbermayr will be succeeded at PHM by Tomass Štolcermanis (#60), who finished fourth in the series last year. Ben Anh Nguyễn (#22) will take over Alba Larsen’s Evans seat on his return to the series. Prema will not replace their Payton Westcott, newly announced to be racing in F1 Academy with Mercedes backing.

In a separate driver change, Haarni Sadiq (#43), who ran a partial campaign in British F4 last year, will replace Roman Felber at X-GP.

What to know: The Formula Winter Series enters its three-round Spanish leg to round out the season, the first leg of which kicks off this weekend at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo near Valencia.

Rodin’s Dries Van Langendonck comfortably leads the championship on 108 points, having taken two more wins at Portimão. He is followed by the US Racing duo consisting of Ary Bansal on 66 points and Oleksandr Savinkov on 59 points. Round one race winner Rocco Coronel sits fourth on 52 points.

There are a number of driver changes this weekend. Most notably, an F1 Academy test is believed to take place in Shanghai, so Mathilda Racing’s Mathilda Paatz and Rodin’s Ella Stevens, who both race in the all-female F4 series, will be absent.

Renauer’s Tomas Rudokas is not expected to return to the championship, having broken his finger in a first-lap accident in the third race at Portimão.

Cram Motorsport’s Alexandre Louza, Mathilda’s Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso, Jenzer Motorsport’s Nicolás Cortés and AS Motorsport’s Viktor Poulsen are likewise absent.

In place of Louza, Cram will field the returning Oscar Repetto (#11), who scored two points in the opening round at Estoril. The Mathilda Racing team, owned by the Paatz family, will field GB4 driver Caitlyn McDaniel (#57) and karting graduate Jensen Burnett (#58), who is set to race in Spanish F4 with Drivex this year. Alexander Chartier was initially set to drive the #57 machine. Jenzer will run Georgiy Zasov (#25), who raced for the team in the opening round with a best result of 19th, while debutant Eric Poulsen (#54) will compete for AS.
