Five season openers in Formula Regional and F4 championships are on the agenda this weekend in Europe and North America. Feeder Series previews what’s to come in each one.
By Feeder Series
This was meant to be the weekend of the Bahrain F2 and F3 rounds, but ongoing unrest in the Middle East led to their cancellation last month. Instead, yesterday brought the big news that Miami and Montréal would be hosting the second and third rounds of the F2 season, marking the F1 support category’s first-ever visit to North America.
While that was the big news in the world of junior single-seaters this week, plenty more storylines are sure to develop this weekend as five championships we cover kick off their 2026 seasons. Spanish F4 and F4 CEZ boast the largest grids among them, with the latter’s format changing to accommodate an entry list in excess of 40 cars for this weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
The former Parella Motorsports Holdings ladder, now branded the Racing America ladder, also returns this weekend at NOLA. The grids for FR Americas, F4 US and the Ligier Junior Formula Championship are all roughly the same size as last year’s. The schedule for live-streams for those three series is still not finalised, however, and coverage in our weekend review on Monday is therefore not guaranteed.

What to know: Spanish F4 kicks off its 11th season this weekend in Valencia. Noah Monteiro goes into the main season with the Eurocup-4 drivers’ title in hand, whilst his team, Griffin Core by Campos, are now reigning teams’ champions in both Eurocup-4 and Spanish F4.
Every team that competed in the winter series will take part in the main season. Included in the 12 teams are G4 Racing, who run their first full-time season in Spanish F4 since 2019, this time with a three-car line-up. Amongst the 35 drivers on the grid are four who are making their single-seater debuts this weekend.

What to know: F4 CEZ kicks off its fourth season with a record-breaking 42-car grid. With that, the weekend format for the series has changed, as three qualifying races will be held before the final on Sunday afternoon.
Of the 42 drivers, Cezary Bień will only take part in the training sessions as he is not 15 yet. Another Pole, Piotr Orcholski of Harp Racing, is also not competing because of his age and has been replaced by Eurocup-3 driver Filippo Fiorentino, while Lubo Ruykov replaces Ava Dobson in the Cram Motorsport line-up.
For the championship, Max Karhan will hope to transform his form from his 2025 runner-up campaign into the overall crown. A lot will depend on new teams’ ability to tackle the F4 CEZ tracks, as for some it is their first season in F4 machinery.
