Six junior single-seater championships – two in Europe and four in North America – form the backbone of our coverage this weekend as May gets busier and busier. Feeder Series previews the action.
By Feeder Series
Preparations for one of the biggest weekends in motorsport are well underway. Not this one: Formula E is the only professional single-seater discipline racing this weekend with a double-header at Monaco. But the Indianapolis 500 is around the corner, and qualifying this weekend will attract much of the attention from open-wheel fans in the absence of F1 and its usual support series, which return next weekend for the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Americas indeed remain the focal point of our coverage this weekend, though not at Indianapolis. Three of the six series we cover here head to Wisconsin’s legendary Road America, where the new FR Americas car, the Ligier JS F326, is set to be revealed on Friday. F4 US and the Ligier Junior Formula Championship join on the Racing America package too, while a fourth American series – USF Juniors – will make its debut outside the United States and welcome both LJFC’s points leader and a top Williams karting prospect to its grid.
Two European junior single-seater series are also racing this weekend. Euroformula Open heads to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for its second round with a 14-car grid – its largest since 2021 – while French F4 retains a bumper 32-car grid for its Dijon round. Keep reading to find out more about what’s at stake in each series.

Weather forecast: Cool and cloudy all weekend, with a high likelihood of rain each afternoon from Friday to Sunday.
What to know: The second round of the 2026 Euroformula Open championship takes place at Spa-Francorchamps, and there are already multiple changes to the grid from round one.
Well known to the series, Spanish team Drivex will return to Euroformula Open following a three-year hiatus. The squad have announced their entry for select races in the championship, with this weekend at Spa marking the first in their return campaign.
The team will field 17-year-old Brazilian Filippo Fiorentino (#37), who combines Euroformula Open competition with a separate campaign with Drivex in Eurocup-3 this year, in which he currently sits 16th. Also racing with Drivex this weekend is fellow Eurocup-3 driver Gino Trappa (#48). The 18-year-old Argentine driver is the reigning F4 CEZ champion, and he contested the fifth Euroformula Open round at Le Castellet last season with Nielsen Racing, finishing in the points in all three races. He is 11th in the Eurocup-3 standings, racing for Hitech.
The final addition to this weekend’s grid is Alceu Feldmann Neto (#8), who will race with BVM in a fourth entry for the team following multiple testing sessions in F3-level cars over the last month. The 17-year-old Brazilian also joins the series from Eurocup-3, in which he sits in 30th place with MP Motorsport.
All three drivers join from Eurocup-3, which shares a car specification with Euroformula Open from this year. Each driver will surely be confident their Dallara 326 experience can make them competitive with the rest of the grid.
Away from driver and team changes, Enzo Yeh comes in as championship leader on 62 points, ahead of Motopark teammate Diego de la Torre on 51 and BVM’s Alessandro Famularo on 50.
Yeh will look to extend his advantage after taking pole and two wins last time out, while De la Torre will hope that consistency is king as the season progresses after he finished on the podium in all three races at Portimão.
Three more drivers enter with unfinished business. The highest-placed returner from last season, Everett Stack, wished to be in Yeh’s position, but contact in race three with Jesse Carrasquedo Jr scuppered both drivers’ weekends. Divy Nandan received a jump-start penalty in race two, and a mistake eventually cost him the on-track lead too. All will hope Spa can bring the drama needed to pull them closer to the leaders.

What to know: A former F1 venue welcomes French F4 this weekend. Dijon-Prenois hosts the second weekend of the 2026 season, and Guillaume Bouzar will be the driver with a target on his back. The 17-year-old French-Luxembourgish driver is the championship leader after taking a double pole position and one win at Nogaro.
But other drivers are eager to carry on their momentum from the previous round. Hugo Herrouin is only 13 points behind, and rookie Matthéo Dauvergne delivered his first win on his debut weekend in F4. Kota Tsuchihashi, Oscar Goudchaux and Thibaut Ramaekers were part of the group fighting for podium spots in the standard-grid races.
Behind, several outsiders are aiming to launch their seasons properly after a disappointing opening weekend, such as Tom Dussol, blistering in qualifying before struggling during the races, and Maverick McKenna, one of the pre-season pacesetters.
There are no driver changes this weekend, with all 30 full-time drivers as well as guests Lisa Billard and Jade Jacquet returning.

What to know: One month after its season-opening round at NOLA, FR Americas heads north for its second round of the season, held at Road America.
Kiwi Motorsport’s Cooper Shipman leads the standings on 58 points after winning race three and taking two other podiums last time out. Thirteen points behind the reigning F4 US champion is Crosslink Motorsports’ Evagoras Papasavvas, who took pole at NOLA and clinched his first win of the season in race two.
Kekai Hauanio completes the all-rookie top three in points, 19 behind Shipman, after standing on the podium twice at NOLA. Christian Bogle and Luke Powers, who scored a podium each, complete the top five on 38 and 33 points respectively. Four behind Powers is Toney Driver Development teammate Brady Golan, who won race one after taking advantage of a collision between Papasavvas and Hauanio in the early stages but retired on lap one of race two.
This weekend’s entry list features 14 cars, three fewer than at NOLA, with no additions to the grid. Atlantic Racing Team will downsize to one car, as Jake Pollack is absent from this weekend’s entry list. Also missing from the entry list are one-car teams MLT Motorsports and Momentum Motorsports, whose respective drivers Jonathan Cottrill and Anthony Autiello are also absent.

What to know: F4 US travels north to Road America for its second round of the season, five weeks after starting its season at NOLA.
Kiwi Motorsport’s Caleb Campbell sits on top of the standings heading into this weekend having claimed maximum points last time out, which included a decisive race one win after taking the lead in the closing stages. Twenty-one points behind the Canadian is Zach Fourie, who finished second to him in all three races, while Cole Medeiros rounds out the top three on 39 points, having finished on the podium in race two and topped the weekend’s sole qualifying session.
Reigning Ligier JFC champion Gastón Irazú scored two third-place finishes on his debut round to enter Road America fourth in points, 45 behind Campbell, while Robert Soroka closes out the top five on 28.
Missing from the entry list are MLT Motorsports and Medeiros, who will prioritise his USF Juniors campaign with Exclusive Autosport this weekend, while VMax Motorsport and Soroka are also absent from the entry list.
The only addition to the grid is Rase Motorsports, who enter one car for Ben Ramirez on their return to the series after most recently competing at Virginia International Raceway last September. The 21-year-old American tested with the team last month at Putnam Park. This February, Ramirez graduated from the Radford Racing School after winning Racing America’s Sim Racing Challenge, which earned him an invitation to the racing school. He has also worked for the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association, now a Racing America subsidiary, as a member of the tech staff.

Weather forecast: Mostly sunny from Thursday through Saturday. Rain likely on Sunday.
What to know: The Ligier Junior Formula Championship travels to Road America for its second round of the season.
Last month at NOLA, MLT and Edward Kennedy set the pace, as they won all three races outright to take the lead in the Gen2 standings ahead of Jack Speth, who finished second overall in race two. In Gen1, meanwhile, Beckham Jacir won twice and holds the class lead in the standings by 17 points over Truly Adams, who was second to Jacir in the first two races and third in race three.
The only other Gen1 race winner was Lázaro Bainotti, who took the spoils in race three ahead of Jacir and Adams, and he enters Road America third in the standings on 39 points. Privateer Ava Hanssen sits only two points behind the Argentine after enjoying a breakout weekend in which she scored her maiden podium by finishing third in race two.
Kennedy, however, will be absent from this weekend’s round as transitions to USF Juniors with VRD Racing by Pole Position at Mosport. He thus almost inevitably surrenders his class points lead to Speth, the sole driver in the class this weekend, provided the American finishes at least one race. Gen1 challenger Adams is also absent from the entry list, as is Will Franklin. No new drivers are present.

How to follow: Every race will be live streamed on the USF Pro Championships YouTube Channel. Live timing will be available on the USF Pro Championships app.
Weather forecast: Cloudy on Thursday. Sunnier weather expected from Friday through Sunday, with some rain possible Saturday.
What to know: USF Juniors will tick over the halfway point of its 2026 season by heading to Mosport for its third and northernmost round as well as its first-ever trip to Canada.
After winning twice in the series’ first trip to South Carolina, Iván Machado Pérez heads into Canada as the points leader on 133, one ahead of Max Mokarem, who stood on the podium only once last time out. Nineteen points behind the Spaniard is Vilho Aatola, who finished no lower than fifth at Kershaw, taking a second-place finish in race one.
The only other race winner from Carolina was Cole Medeiros, who took the lead at the start and never looked back as he scored his first career win. He enters his home race 12 points behind Aatola in fourth. Fellow Canadian Olivier Mrak completes the top five, 12 points behind Medeiros, after finishing second in race two last month.
DEForce Racing will downsize to two cars, as Pipe Chaparro is missing from the entry list. Zanella Racing’s Maddie Colleran is also absent, as is Arthur Barbe, who raced with VRD Racing by Pole Position last time out. Instead, VRD will house two series newcomers this weekend, as Edward Kennedy and Dean Hoogendoorn will make their debuts.
The former, a Ligier JFC racer who won all three races at NOLA last month, is no stranger to the team, having tested USF Juniors machinery with them earlier in the year. He will make his series debut at his home round. The latter, an accomplished karter who has been a Williams F1 junior since 2024, currently leads the Champions of the Future Euro Series’ OK standings after two rounds. Both turned 14, the series’ minimum age, within the last two weeks, with Dutch driver Hoogendoorn making his single-seater debut.
