Feeder Series has learnt that Australian team Evans GP, which was originally confirmed to be competing in Eurocup-3 this year, is no longer planning on doing so.

The team announced in November that it would partner with Australian S5000 outfit Versa Motorsport, entering the series as Versa Evans GP.

However, the team did not participate in the non-championship round and pre-season testing, both held in March. As reported in April, team principal Joshua Evans said – after it had missed the season opener – that the team was still planning on entering Eurocup-3, albeit not at every round.

Evans told Feeder Series that their pre-season preparations had been impacted by not receiving the Eurocup-3-specific Tatuus F3 T-318 aero kits from the Italian manufacturer or the tyres from Hankook in time for sufficient testing. He added that the team would “only enter once we are ready to compete with the right preparation.”

However, Tatuus counterclaimed by saying that the aero kits were sent for delivery between the 10th and 15th of February, more than a month prior to pre-season testing at Spa-Francorchamps.

Originally planning to field three cars, Versa Evans GP signed Cooper Webster for all eight rounds, and said that it was “in advanced discussions” to fill the two remaining seats. Feeder Series understands the team was unable to find two additional drivers and could not commit to Eurocup-3 as a result.

Joshua Evans did not respond to a request for comment, and no announcements have been made on the matter by the team.

Evans GP took part in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship earlier this year, fielding Costa Toparis and John Bennett for all five rounds, as well as Edgar Pierre for the final two rounds. The team also entered an alliance with KIC Motorsport ahead of the current FRECA season that will see it provide technical support to the entries of Toparis and Alex Sawer under the KIC Evans GP banner.
