Louis Deletraz is back at Charouz, a team that feels like family to him. With them the Swiss driver is mounting a title challenge in Formula 2. We talked about his goals, Haas and Anthoine Hubert.

Deletraz has been driving single-seaters since he participated in the Formula BMW Talent Cup in 2012 (3 races, 3 poles, 1 win). Since then he has booked some notable results like winning the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC title in 2015 with Josef Kaufmann Racing (and taking second in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship in the same year). In 2016 the Swiss driver was narrowly beaten by Tom Dillmann in the now defunct Formula V8 3.5 Series.

In 2016 Deletraz drove his first two races in the final step to Formula 1: GP2. He debuted in the final round for Carlin, but made his full season debut in 2017 for Racing Engineering in the then all new F2 series. During the season he switched seats with Nyck de Vries and went on to drive for Rapax. There he scored his best result of the season: 4th at Monza. In 2018 he signed with Charouz en got his first podium with second at Monaco. He finished the season in tenth.

In 2019 the now 22-year old Swiss driver went back to the team he made his GP2 debut with, Carlin. He had his best season to date, finishing 8th in the final standings, grabbing three podiums on the way. For this year Louis has returned to Charouz and won’t be satisfied with anything less than wins in his fourth full F2 season.
