Whatsapping with: Frederik Vesti (FIA F3)

Not many drivers can say they had a year like Frederik Vesti’s in 2019. The Dane wiped the floor with everyone in the Formula Regional European Championship and made a promotion to FIA Formula 3 with Prema. We talked to him about that year, the Macau GP and more.

Frederik Vesti booked his first real success in single-seaters in 2017 when he finished runner up in the Danish F4 Championship (15 podiums in 15 races). That same year he took seventh in ADAC F4 with Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) as a rookie in a field that featured more experienced drivers like Juri Vips, teammate Felipe Drugovich and Lirim Zendeli.

In 2018 the Dane did a second year of ADAC F4 with VAR which saw him win twice, take eight podiums and finishing fourth in the championship. That year he also made his debut in the final year of the FIA F3 European Championship with VAR and he did three races in Italian F4, winning two of them. As icing on the cake Vesti made his debut with the Dutch team in the Macau GP, finishing 15th.

In 2019 Vesti, who recently turned 18, joined Prema and he made the step up to the Formula Regional European Championship. It would prove to be the best season of his career. In 24 races, he finished on the podium twenty times, winning thirteen of them. Eventually the Danish driver finished a whopping 131 points ahead of his nearest rival team mate Enzo Fittipaldi. His title earned him a FIA Formula 3 drive with Prema.
