August is traditionally the month of Formula 1’s summer break, but it begins with a roar as 11 junior single-seater series take to various circuits around the world. Feeder Series brings you all the details.
By Feeder Series
It’s the hottest part of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and with it, championship battles and drama in racing worldwide are heating up. And while you may have been busy keeping up with the relentless news cycle in F1, there’s been plenty happening in the series below it too leading up to an action-packed start to August.
F2 and F3 are once again on the F1 support bill for the Hungarian Grand Prix, and the drivers’ title could even be decided in the latter if Rafael Câmara extends his current 28-point advantage to 40 or more. The other European championships have more possible permutations, though gaps of more than a month for FRegional Europe, Italian F4 and French F4 means there’s no better time for the championship contenders to stamp their authority on their respective series.
Silverstone welcomes GB3 and GB4, and the former brings with it a number of new drivers as its grid size increases from 16 to 24. Several of the newcomers have arrived from championships in the United States, where FR Americas, F4 US and the Ligier Junior Formula Championship are racing this weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park. You can read the reviews for those series, as well as Japanese F4’s long-awaited second round at Fuji, on Tuesday of next week after we cover the European racing Monday morning.

Weather forecast: A mix of sunshine and clouds on Friday and Saturday, with a risk of rain for Sunday’s feature race.
What to know: F2 returns for its second round in two weekends after a chaotic event at Spa. Roman Staněk won the feature race after original winner Alex Dunne was penalised and second-place finisher Arvid Lindblad was disqualified post-race.
Leonardo Fornaroli, Staněk’s Invicta teammate, won his second consecutive sprint race. This result, combined with fifth in the feature, gave him the championship lead for the first time.
Heading into the Hungaroring round, Dunne will look to avenge his Spa penalty, while fellow championship contenders Jak Crawford and Richard Verschoor will want to make up for not scoring points in Belgium. Victor Martins, meanwhile, can make his qualifying prowess count at a circuit where overtaking is tough.
Fornaroli is currently on 125 points, leading Verschoor on 122 by three. DAMS’ Crawford lies third on 116, just two points ahead of Dunne on 114 and three ahead of Williams junior Luke Browning on 113. There are no driver changes.
Report by Martin Lloyd
From the press: Staněk’s Spa victory was his third podium in three rounds – a run of form he had never attained in two previous F2 seasons. Earlier this month, Feeder Series sat down with Invicta drivers Staněk and Fornaroli and team principal James Robinson to find out what makes the Czech driver stand out. Read what they said here.

How to follow: All sessions will be live-streamed on F1 TV, but fans can also follow them live via the series’ live timing service. Local viewing information can be found here.
Weather forecast: A mix of sunshine and clouds on Friday and Saturday, with a risk of rain for Sunday’s feature race.
What to know: F3 heads to Hungary for the penultimate round of the 2025 championship, completing the final pair of back-to-back races this season before another four-week break.
Rafael Câmara leads the championship standings by 28 points, having only extended his gap over Nikola Tsolov by one point in Belgium. Tsolov took a victory at the circuit in last year’s feature race, finishing 1.114s ahead of Noel León in second.
ART Grand Prix’s Tuukka Taponen is one to watch this weekend. Though the 18-year-old Ferrari junior is out of realistic title contention, he dominated last year’s FRegional Europe round at the Hungaroring, winning both races and securing both pole positions.
Only 78 points are still on offer in the drivers’ standings, meaning that Câmara can seal the deal if he outscores Tsolov by 12 or more points and third-placed Tim Tramnitz by seven or more points.
Nikita Johnson returns to the #15 Hitech after being absent in Spa, having previously raced for the team during the seventh round at Silverstone. Briton Freddie Slater stepped into the seat in Belgium but failed to score any points despite starting from reverse-grid pole in the sprint race.

What to know: The 2025 FRegional Europe season has passed its halfway point, and the series is now set to complete one more round before the summer break. This weekend, the grid heads to the home of F1’s Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Imola.
Having dominated the Le Castellet round by taking all pole positions and all wins available, Freddie Slater has returned to the top of the drivers’ standings. All of the Englishman’s race finishes so far have been top fives, and he has snatched five wins and two further podiums along the way.
At a 20-point distance is former points leader Matteo De Palo, who now sits second with two wins and four further podiums to his name.
Rounding out the top three is Pedro Clerot. The Brazilian driver, who has one win and two further podiums this season, got ahead of Enzo Deligny at Paul Ricard earlier this month.
The Akcel GP team are set to make their return to the series in Imola after sitting out the Le Castellet round to work on their car. The Emirati squad are currently 10th in the teams’ standings with a best finish of 14th by Aditya Kulkarni in race two at Hungaroring.
Taking the wheel of Arthur Aegerter’s car this weekend will be Kacper Sztuka, currently fourth in the Eurocup-3 standings. The 19-year-old ex-F3 driver made his debut in FR Europe this year at the season opener in Misano, where he claimed a best result of 13th in race two. Aegerter is currently 33rd in the drivers’ standings, having competed in only two full racing weekends in the series.
F1 Academy points leader Doriane Pin of Prema Racing is also missing from this weekend’s round despite not having a calendar clash with any F1 Academy events. The 21-year-old sits 25th in the FR Europe standings, with two best finishes of 17th in race two at the Hungaroring and in race one at Le Castellet. She was spotted testing F4 machinery at Vallelunga on Thursday along with two drivers affiliated with Prema’s senior karting team.

Weather forecast: Sunny intervals expected Friday and Saturday with a small chance of occasional showers. Rain is expected to fall Sunday. Mild temperatures throughout.
What to know: The GB3 Championship enters the second half of its 2025 season by returning to Silverstone for the second time, having also raced at the venue for the season opener.
Rodin Motorsport have the lead in both the teams’ and drivers’ championships, with Alex Ninovic heading into the fifth round of the season with a commanding 34-point advantage over Patrick Heuzenroeder of Xcel Motorsport. Gianmarco Pradel, also of Rodin, completes an all-Australian top three in the drivers’ standings. He is tied on 181 points with Hitech’s Deagen Fairclough.
A grid of 24 drivers is set to compete in the fifth round of the 2025 season as a number of new faces join the grid.
Brothers Rodrigo Gonzalez and Patricio Gonzalez have joined Chris Dittmann Racing and VRD Racing respectively. Both have competed in USF Juniors this season and sit seventh and eighth respectively in the drivers’ standings. Nineteen-year-old Rodrigo is making a sole appearance with CDR before finishing the season with another team, whilst 16-year-old Patricio completes VRD Racing’s three-car line-up for the rest of the season.
Also joining CDR is 16-year-old Nicolas Stati, who makes his European racing debut and becomes the fifth Australian on this season’s grid. Stati was the runner-up in the 2024 F4 US Championship and is currently sixth in the FR Americas standings, having secured a best result of third at Indianapolis in June.
Xcel have brought in Yevan David to replace Dion Gowda for the Silverstone round, with Gowda fulfilling his FR Europe commitments in Imola this weekend. David became the first Sri Lankan to win a European single-seater race last year, taking two victories in the Euroformula Open finale at Monza. The 18-year-old returned to the championship this season and currently sits second in the standings with four wins and a further five podiums in 15 races.
As in Budapest, all three regular Hillspeed drivers are also fulfilling their FR Europe commitments this weekend, so the team have brought in Michael Shin to represent them. The 20-year-old from South Korea competed in seven GB3 events in 2023 with Hitech and currently races in Euroformula Open, in which he is third in the drivers’ standings with two wins and six further podiums. Joining Shin at Hillspeed will be Mercedes junior driver Yuanpu Cui, who has split from the Argenti with Prema team. The 17-year-old is currently 16th in the drivers’ standings with a best finish of sixth, achieved twice in Zandvoort.
August Raber has been brought in to replace Cui at Argenti. The 16-year-old Swede also races with Argenti in British F4, in which he is fifth in the drivers’ standings with three wins as a series sophomore.
Hitech’s Nikita Johnson will once again be absent as he joins the team for the F3 round in Budapest, whilst Divy Nandan returns to JHR Developments after missing the previous round. For more from the paddock, follow GB3 editor George on X.
Report by George Sanderson
From the press: The uncertainty of being on a round-by-round contract can be debilitating for some – and motivating for others. Hugo Schwarze has made the most of one such deal with VRD Racing by taking his maiden GB3 win and two further podiums, all while finding his feet in the European Le Mans Series. Read more about his unorthodox 2025 here.

What to know: The curtain goes up on the third to last round of Italian F4 in 2025, which will take the field to the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola.
Four rounds into this year’s championship, Kean Nakamura-Berta is still the points leader with seven wins and two further podiums so far.
After the last round, third-placed Gabriel Gomez caught up to a struggling Sebastian Wheldon, and the two drivers have each scored 154 points. While Wheldon has clinched three wins and three further podiums, Gomez took victory only once, in the final at Vallelunga, but stepped on the podium six more times.
Behind them, Alex Powell leapt to fourth in the standings after a starring performance in Mugello. The Mercedes junior took his first two wins in the series and one further podium last time out in addition to the second place he had achieved in race three in Vallelunga.
Javier Herrera is set to make his comeback to the series after scoring points on debut in race three in Monza to sit 27th in the standings. The grid otherwise remains unchanged, with 39 drivers expected to hit the track for the weekend. For more from Imola, follow Italian F4 editor Francesca on X.

From the press: The fight at the top of the standings seems to be sealed, but there are a couple of familiar names further down the grid worth looking out for. How to follow: All sessions will have live timing available on the GT World Challenge Europe live timing page. All three races will be broadcast for free on YouTube.
Weather forecast: Rain showers possible Friday. Partly sunny Saturday and Sunday.
What to know: French F4 starts the second half of its season at former F1 venue Magny-Cours.
The title battle heated up at the last round in Spa, with the gap between leader Alexandre Munoz and Jules Roussel reduced from 47 to 12 points following contact between them in the final race. Arthur Dorison, more than 50 points behind Roussel, is the only driver to have collected wins at every round so far, albeit all in reverse-grid races.
Munoz has won four times, Dorison three times, and Roussel twice, meaning all other drivers are yet to win this year – or in their single-seater careers. Germany’s Montego Maassen and French-Thai Rayan Caretti have stepped on 10 podiums combined but have still not taken their first wins.
Meanwhile, Iron Dames member Lisa Billard will hope to continue the momentum from Spa-Francorchamps, where scored her first two points, at the track where she debuted in single-seaters.
The series’ grid is unchanged from last time, but its paddock welcomes a familiar face for the second time this season. Follow French F4 editor Percy on X and BlueSky this weekend for live updates from Magny-Cours.

Weather forecast: Sunny intervals expected Friday and Saturday with a small chance of occasional showers. Rain is expected to fall Sunday. Mild temperatures throughout.
What to know: Like its parent series, the GB4 Championship returns to Silverstone this weekend for the fifth round of the 2025 season.
Just three rounds remain to decide the drivers’ championship, currently being led by Daniel Guinchard on 252 points. The Hillspeed driver has a 36-point advantage over Ary Bansal, whose Elite Motorsport teammates Isaac Phelps and Alexandros Kattoulas complete the top four at 10-point intervals from one another. All four stepped on the podium at least once the last time GB4 raced at Silverstone.
Silverstone is set to have a record-equalling grid of 25 drivers, as Fortec Motorsport’s Luca Magnussen and Graham Brunton Racing’s Mayer Deonarine return to racing action. Both drivers missed the previous round at Snetterton, with Deonarine unable to race because of funding issues and Magnussen recovering from appendicitis. Feeder Series understands that GBR’s Alex Berg is missing this weekend and is at New Jersey Motorsports Park with his family’s Ligier Junior Formula Championship team.
Douglas Motorsport have announced that Arjen Kräling will race for the team at Silverstone in place of Luke Hilton. Just after turning 15, the German made his single-seater debut in British F4’s Zandvoort round last weekend, with a best result of 11th coming in race one.
Snetterton debutants Flame Airikkala and Dudley Ruddock both return for their second GB4 weekends at Pace Performance and Arden Motorsport respectively, but Rossoverde Scorpio Racing and their driver Neirin Evans are absent once again, having not featured since the previous visit to Silverstone at the end of April. For more from the paddock, follow GB3 editor George on X.
Report by George Sanderson
From the press: Airikkala arrived in GB4 with a family legacy in racing and experiences as varied as any 18-year-old could want, with outings in Radicals, Fiestas, rally cars and Japanese junior single-seaters preceding her debut last month. We spoke with her and fellow newcomer Ruddock to find out what brought them to GB4. Read what they said here.

Weather forecast: Thunderstorms expected Thursday and Friday afternoon. Sunny on Saturday and Sunday. The last test session on Thursday was already rained out.
What to know: FR Americas reaches the halfway point of its season this weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
The battle for the title is turning out to be a close one. After a dominant weekend in Mid-Ohio, rookie Bruno Ribeiro comes in leading the standings with a three-point advantage over Nicolás Ambiado. Both drivers finished on the podium in all races of the last round, with the Brazilian winning two races and the Chilean winning one.
Ambiado also took his first series win last year at New Jersey, where Titus Sherlock, currently fourth in the standings, also scored his first F4 US victory back in 2023.
Ten drivers are set to race this round, two fewer than in the previous round. Crosslink Motorsports’ Hayden Bowlsbey and Kiwi Motorsport’s Kevin Janzen and Nicolas Stati will not be racing this weekend, with Stati racing in GB3’s Silverstone event. Anthony Autiello is returning to the championship this weekend after having missed the Mid-Ohio round.

How to follow: Races are streamed on the series’ YouTube channel. Live timing is available on Race Monitor.
Weather forecast: Thunderstorms expected Thursday and Friday afternoon. Sunny on Saturday and Sunday. The last test session on Thursday was already rained out.
What to know: After an event with its smallest grid ever, F4 US comes to New Jersey for its fourth round of the year.
The Mid-Ohio grid was composed of only six drivers. This weekend’s entry list, although slightly bigger, still features only seven drivers. After having missed the last round, Luke Powers returns to the championship this weekend with Toney Driver Development. Regardless, the small number of entries raises red flags for the championship as participation continues to decrease year over year.
Cooper Shipman dominated the previous round, winning both races of the weekend despite having brief contact with Caleb Campbell in the second. Shipman now comes to New Jersey as the championship leader with 6.5-point advantage over Kekai Hauanio. Alex Popow, who also had a great weekend in Mid-Ohio with two second places, comes right after with 117 points, putting him 19 off Shipman’s total.

Different drivers stepped on the podium in each race at the last round. Gastón Irazú inherited pole after three cars were disqualified, but he was passed by Cash Felber right at the start of race one. Felber got his maiden win in the series, while Irazú and Benites won the other two. Benites left with a field-high 55-point haul in only his second time racing in the series.
Irazú still leads the championship with 140 points, followed by Drew Szuch in second with 123 points and Daniel Cará in third with 110.5.
This weekend’s grid will have 14 cars racing, one fewer than were at the previous round at Mid-Ohio. Crosslink Motorsport’s Kelsey Pinkowski and Scuderia Buell’s Pablo Benites will not be racing this round. What to know: Japanese F4 enters its second round of 2025 at Fuji this weekend with 49 drivers across the Champion Class and Independent Class. The bottom two of each class in qualifying will not qualify for the races, as the grid is capped at 45 cars.
In the opening round, likewise held at Fuji in May, Kageyama Racing’s Ryo Shirasaki and Itsuki Sato stole the spotlight by locking out the top two spots in qualifying and taking the chequered flag first in races two and three respectively.
Nonetheless, Toyota junior Tokiya Suzuki leads the Champion Class standings by 10 points over B-Max Racing’s Tosei Moriyama after winning the first race and finishing third in the other two.
The series’ grid also includes one newly minted single-seater champion. TGM Grand Prix’s Leon Ochiai won the F110 Cup title at Motegi this past weekend for Eagle Sports. He is currently 17th in Japanese F4.
This weekend, Kageyama add a third car to their line-up for single-seater debutant Ryusho Nakazato, who was announced to be racing for the team ahead of the season but missed the opening round. Ahead of his debut, Nakazato competed in the OTK Kart Japan championship and the GPR Karting Series earlier this year.
Independent Class driver Kazutaka Miura likewise debuts this weekend with B-Max Racing and was announced ahead of the season but missed the opening round. Skill Speed’s Yoshimasa Kano of the Champion Class and Buzz Racing’s Hitoshi Sakai of the Independent Class are not returning for this weekend’s round.
