As Formula 1’s summer break continues, North America remains the centre of junior single-seater motorsport activity, with GB4 also on the calendar at Snetterton alongside USF Pro 2000 and USF2000’s Markham debut.

It’s another light week for junior single-seater racing. There were set to be four championships, but the provisionally planned Brazilian F4 round at Goiânia this weekend will not be taking place as scheduled.

That leaves us with three championships we’ll be following. GB4 is at Snetterton in Norfolk, England, while USF Pro 2000 and USF2000 hold their lone event in Canada at the newly inaugurated Markham Street Circuit. The latter two will join IndyCar this weekend as it moves away from Exhibition Place in downtown Toronto after 40 years of racing there.

In addition to IndyCar, Formula E is also racing, but rather than marking a new beginning, the all-electric series celebrates the end of an era – in multiple ways. The championship will conclude its 2025–26 season with its sixth and as of now final visit to the London ExCeL stadium circuit before the ePrix moves to Brands Hatch. It’s also the last race for the third generation of machinery, with the Gen4 rules set to debut next season. Feeder Series will be in attendance to catch all the big storylines from the paddock.

GB4: Round 5, Snetterton

Weather forecast: Sunny and warm on Friday. Cloudy on Saturday, with sunshine returning Sunday in addition to cooler temperatures.

What to know: GB4 heads to Snetterton this weekend for round five of the 2026 championship. 

The most recent round at Silverstone featured three different race winners in the form of Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing’s Luke Hilton, Fortec Motorsports’ Thomas Ingram Hill and Hillspeed’s Connor Willis. 

KMR Sport’s Alex O’Grady still has a firm grip on the lead of the drivers’ championship on 247 points, 25 points ahead of his closest challenger, Elite Motorsport’s Fred Green. Hilton follows in third on 205 points. 

Willis’ win helped Hillspeed maintain the lead of the teams’ championship. They are on 345 points, six points ahead of Fortec Motorsports, who currently have 339 points, with Pace Performance one point back on 338. 

The championship brings a 28-car grid to Snetterton. William Rohan is absent from Arden’s third car, having made his series debut last time out at Silverstone.

USF Pro 2000: Round 7, Markham

What to know: USF Pro 2000 supports IndyCar this weekend as they visit a completely new street course in Markham, Ontario, Canada, for the seventh round of the championship. The classic street course around Exhibition Place in Toronto was removed because of construction work for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

On track, the biggest news ahead of this weekend is the absence of championship leader Leonardo Escorpioni. The Brazilian, who won race two in Portland, had issues with immigration entering the series’ sole Canadian round, giving his biggest rival Jack Jeffers a chance to catch up and overcome the 24-point deficit he currently faces. 

G3 Argyros is another driver who could make a significant jump through Escorpioni’s absence. The Pabst Racing driver, who won race one at Portland and finished second in race two, is now 43 points behind the points leader. 

With no further changes expected, the two USF Pro 2000 races in Markham are set to feature 13 drivers, the smallest grid at this level since 2022.

USF2000: Round 7, Markham

What to know: Just like USF Pro 2000, USF2000 will visit the new Markham street circuit for two races.

Last weekend at Portland, championship leader Sebastián Garzón extended his championship lead over nearest rival Brad Majman to 29 points. His Pabst Racing teammate Eddie Beswick sits in third place, 68 points behind. 

Oliver Wheldon was victorious in both races, but he does not feature prominently in the championship fight. Having missed the opener at St Petersburg, he sits in sixth place, 101 points behind Garzón.

Having withdrawn from the Portland round after announcing his USF2000 season was coming to an early end, Liam Loiacono is not on the Markham entry list. The other two absentees are USF Juniors points leader Karol Pasiewicz of Olivia Racing – who made a one-off entry – and part-time entrant Connor Aspley of Exclusive Autosport.

One new driver will be on the grid in Markham. Dean Pedersen will be making his USF2000 debut with VRD Racing. The 16-year-old is currently 12th in the F4 CEZ championship. He also appeared in the most recent Spanish F4 round at Aragón.

Returning to USF2000 are Cole Medeiros (#97) and Brenden Cooley (#95) of Exclusive Autosport. The two are teammates in USF Juniors, in which they are sixth and 13th in the championship respectively. Earlier this year, Medeiros made his USF2000 debut at Road America with a best finish of eighth in race one. Cooley made an appearance at Indianapolis Raceway Park, where he finished 15th.
