While the European single-seater season doesn’t restart until March, some drivers will be preparing to return to racing later this month in the Formula Regional Asian Championship (FRAC). One of the drivers competing in this Winter Series is R-ace GP’s Brazilian 17-year-old Gabriel Bortoleto. We caught up with him and chatted about his rookie season in FRECA and what’s to come from him in 2022.

Gabriel Bortoleto competed in his first open-wheel single-seater series in 2020, taking part in the Italian F4 Championship. He managed one victory and five podiums on his way to finishing 5th in the standings.
In 2021 he then progressed to the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA), racing for FA Racing by MP. In the ultra-competitive championship, The Brazilian started slowly with just one points finish in the first half of the season. However, he managed a podium and multiple points finishes in the second half to eventually finish 15th in the Championship.
Since the new year, Bortoleto has changed teams, signing with R-ace GP to compete in two series this season. Firstly in FRAC (January-February) where it’s 3Y by R-ace GP and secondly in FRECA (April-October). He returns to racing on 22nd January at the Yas Marina Circuit for Round 1 of FRAC.
