AU4: 2026 season guide

After a nail-biting 2025 season, AU4, Australia’s Formula 4–spec single-seater series, is set to begin this weekend at Winton Motor Raceway. Feeder Series tells you all you need to know about the series’ 2026 season.

Australia’s premier junior motorsport series is back, building on the momentum of its 2024 revival and delivering what is shaping up to be its most competitive grid yet. With its growing reputation as a key step on the international single-seater ladder – thanks in part to having two of its 2025 drivers make the jump to Middle Eastern and European championships – AU4 continues to attract rising domestic talent and drivers looking to sharpen their edge before heading overseas.

AU4’s multi-class structure returns, allowing drivers as young as 14 to get a taste of F4 machinery. The younger or less experienced Gen1 competitors will drive the Mygale M14-F4, while the Gen2 drivers will step into the more modern Tatuus F4-T421 to compete for the overall championship honours.

This year sees AU4 do away with the Masters Cup, streamlining the competition and emphasising youth development. This year, all drivers are between the ages of 14 and 20, aligning AU4 more closely with international F4 series.

Several teams are yet to announce their full line-ups, and line-ups are subject to change throughout the season.

The calendar

Just like last year, the 2026 championship boasts five rounds, with both The Bend and Sydney Motorsport Park making two appearances on the calendar. The round at Phillip Island has been scrapped, with a round at Winton Motor Raceway opening the season this year.

  • Round 1: Winton Motor Raceway (1–3 May)
  • Round 2: Sydney Motorsport Park (30–31 May)
  • Round 3: The Bend Motorsport Park, West Circuit (17–19 July)
  • Round 4: The Bend Motorsport Park, International Circuit (21–23 August)
  • Round 5: Sydney Motorsport Park (11–13 September)

Format

The championship’s format remains the same as it was in 2025, with the grid split between first-generation Mygale and second-generation Tatuus cars. Five rounds are set to take place, with three races occurring during each round.

Each round will typically include two 30-minute free practice sessions and one 15-minute official practice session on Friday, depending on the capabilities of the circuit. Saturday brings two 15-minute qualifying sessions to determine the starting order. Race one will take place on Saturday, with races two and three occurring on Sunday. Each race will run for 25 minutes plus one lap, including the formation lap.

The grid for race one will be determined by the results of qualifying one. For race two, the starting order will depend on the fastest lap order of race one, and for race three, the grid will be determined by the results of qualifying two. Because of the dual-class format, regardless of lap times, the grid for each race will have all of the Gen2 Tatuus cars grouped at the front, followed by a vacant grid row. The Mygale cars will be grouped in lap time order behind this.

The point system remains consistent with most major FIA-sanctioned single-seater events – 25 points for the winner of each race, 18 for second place, 15 for third, and so on, with the 10th-place finisher receiving one point. One point will be awarded for the fastest lap time in each qualifying session as well as one for the fastest lap of each race. All races will count towards the championship, with last year’s rule dropping each driver’s three worst scores being removed.

Where to watch

Live streams of the races are available on Blend Line TV with English commentary. Live timing will be available on NatSoft.

Teams and drivers

Alongside the drivers already confirmed at teams, several more are set to appear in the series.

Feeder Series understands that Aris Kyriakou (#25) will compete in at least the first round of the Gen2 championship in 2026 with an unspecified team. The 18-year-old entered the last two rounds of last year’s Indian F4 championship with Godspeed Kochi and finished 16th in the standings.

F1 Academy alumna Joanne Ciconte, 17, is set to return to AU4 for round four later this year alongside her primary campaign in the Kyojo Cup. She competed in the opening round of the series in 2024 when it ran under the Australian F4 name, scoring 14 points across three races. She then finished 14th in F1 Academy last year while racing for MP Motorsport. Her AU4 team for 2026 has not yet been confirmed, and she was also set to race in round one but has not appeared on the entry list.

Jamie-Lee Su (#9) is also expected to step up to Gen2 later this season, though she will not participate in the first round. She competed in two rounds of the Gen1 championship in 2025, finishing ninth in the standings with one podium finish in the final round.

AGI Sport

AU4’s promoter and double reigning champions, AGI Sport carry momentum into 2026 having fielded Gen2 champion and 2026 Italian F4 debutant Noah Killion and Gen1 victor Jensen Marold last year.

Gen1

AU4 newcomer Rugby Mangan (#4) begins his single-seater career in the Gen1 championship after three years of karting. The 15-year-old Australian cites 2025 AU4 champion Noah Killion’s success as the catalyst for his racing career.

Sydney’s Koby Wilson (#6) will contest his second full season in the Gen1 championship in 2026. The 14-year-old has momentum on his side from securing multiple podium finishes in 2025 and ultimately finishing third in the standings.

New Zealand’s Jackson Culver (#12) will cross the ditch to compete in the Gen1 championship. The 14-year-old won the 2024 Formula First one-hour endurance race at just 12 years and 225 days old, making him New Zealand’s youngest motor race winner.

Martin Dudley (#15) is set to make his F4 debut in the Gen1 championship with no karting experience. The same is true for his fellow Australian and 16-year-old teammate, Matteo Kazaglis (#52)

A second-generation AGI driver, 14-year-old Sydneysider Lewis Gotch (#66) makes his AU4 debut in the Gen1 championship this year. The son of 2025 Masters Cup driver Nathan Gotch and the nephew of AGI founder Adam Gotch debuted in Australian Formula Open driving AU4’s Gen2 Tatuus F4-T421 in March ahead of his primary campaign in AU4.

Gen2

William Beck (#28) will make his Australian debut in the Gen2 championship this year. The New Zealander was named rookie of the year in the North Island Formula Ford Championship earlier this year after taking the overall title.

Gen1’s dominant reigning champion Jensen Marold (#31) steps up to the Gen2 class following a virtually uncontested 2025 campaign,in which he won 12 of the 12 races he entered. In addition to a Gen2 title bid, the 15-year-old Adelaide native plans to compete in a round of the Radical Cup later in 2026.

Having contested three rounds of last year’s championship, Sydney’s Xavier Babbage-Hockey (#41) returns to AU4, stepping up to Gen2 in 2026. The 20-year-old finished seventh in the Gen1 championship last year and 24th in the national Formula Vee series in the 1600 class.

Australian Luca Cosolo (#90) begins his career in cars in the Gen2 championship in 2026, stepping up directly from karting. Cosolo competed in the Victorian Kart Championship and the Australian Kart Championship in X30 earlier in the year, with mixed results.

Borys Łyżeń (#20), a sprint race winner in Spanish F4’s winter series, will join the grid for round one. The 15-year-old Pole sits fifth in the Spanish F4 main series standings after the first round, having ended his winter championship campaign with MP Motorsport in eighth.

Tim Macrow Racing

Tim Macrow Racing, founded by two-time Australian Drivers’ Champion Tim Macrow, fielded four drivers last year, including third-placed Harrison Duske in the Gen2 championship.

Seventeen-year-old Angus Baills (#17) makes his single-seater debut in 2026, having finished third last year in his native Queensland’s Series X3, which features Hyundai Excel X3 saloon cars built between 1994 and 2000. Baills will contest the Gen2 championship alongside a campaign in Queensland Formula Ford.

Brock Burton (#30) will contest a second season in the Gen2 Tatuus with Tim Macrow Racing in 2026. Burton finished sixth in the overall standings last year, taking home the final race win of the season. The Australian also competed in the 2026 UAE4 season with Xcel Motorsport.

Auckland’s Marco Manson (#69) will debut in the Gen2 championship in 2026. The 15-year-old brother of USF Pro 2000 driver Sebastian Manson won the 2026 New Zealand Formula Ford championship and previously took multiple national karting championships.

Western Australia’s De’argo Stewart (#73) will step up to Gen2 after a successful Gen1 campaign in 2025, when he finished fourth on 128 points. The 14-year-old raced with AGI Sport last year but made the switch to Tim Macrow Racing for 2026.

Anton Du (#88) will race with Tim Macrow Racing in the Gen2 championship this year. The Australian-Chinese driver is also competing in Australian Formula Open, with a best finish so far of ninth.
