It’s finally here – our first race weekend of 2026 with a double-digit number of series in action. From Formula 2 to USF Pro 2000 to GB4, we’ve got you covered with all the info you need to keep up with the 11 junior single-seater series racing from Thursday through Monday.
By Feeder Series
Usually this is the weekend we’d be talking about the Triple Crown of Motorsport – the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500, two of its three component parts, are usually held on this weekend in May. But with F1’s schedule reshuffling moving Monaco to early June, the Indianapolis 500 now enjoys a greater spotlight – though not an exclusive one, with F1 racing in Montréal instead.
Each of the top single-seater series racing this weekend have also brought their junior counterparts with them in various forms. For F1, it’s through F1 Academy’s return to Montréal and F2’s debut in Canada. For IndyCar, it’s through USF Pro 2000 and USF2000’s flagship events of the year, their 90- and 75-lap races respectively around the Indianapolis Raceway Park, rescheduled from Friday to Thursday in anticipation of rain. And for Super Formula out in Japan, it’s through a round at Suzuka that marks the first time ever that Super Formula Lights and FRegional Japan have joined the main series on the same weekend.
A handful of other series are also in action. Among them, GB4, Italian F4, British F4 and FR Europe race at various tracks in Europe, with GB4’s final two races taking place Monday. There is also Chinese F4’s second round at Tianjin, a circuit new to the championship. Read on to find out more about all of these series.
For this weekend, race reports for USF Pro 2000 and USF2000 will be published separately on Friday, and the reports for the remaining series not on the F1 bill will appear on our website Monday evening. Coverage of F2’s qualifying sessions, sprint races and feature races will also be published the following mornings as a result of time zone differences between Europe and North America.

- F1 Academy: Round 2, Montréal

How to follow: All sessions will be live-streamed on F1 TV, but fans can also follow them live via the series’ live timing service. Local viewing information can be found here.
Weather forecast: Dry and sunny on Friday and Saturday. Showers are possible on Sunday.
What to know: F2 will make its second consecutive trip to a new North American venue at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend. The track has been a near-permanent feature of F1’s calendar since 1978, but neither F2 nor GP2 has ever raced there.
Nikola Tsolov will look to continue his outstanding start to the season. Having won two of the first four races in Melbourne and Miami, the Campos Racing driver leads the championship on 35 points, one point ahead of both Gabriele Minì and Rafael Câmara, with Trident’s Laurens van Hoepen a further eight points back on 26.
Campos lead the teams’ standings, too, on 56 points, six ahead of closest rivals and two-time title nemeses Invicta Racing. Further down the table, Rodin Motorsport have perhaps shown the most pace of any team in the first two rounds, but a series of driver and team mistakes leave them languishing in eighth.
There are no driver changes for this round.

What to know: F1 Academy will make its return to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend.
Emma Felbermayr, the current championship leader, took her first single-seater victory in race two around the track last year. She currently leads the standings with 31 points, with Alisha Palmowski in second with 25 and Nina Gademan in third with 22.
This weekend will be the first following the introduction of the new three-race format this weekend, allowing the series to hold 14 total races after the cancellation of the round at Jeddah. There will now be two races that take place on Saturday, one being the opening race and the other being the reverse-grid race. The grid for the opening race will be set using drivers’ second-fastest qualifying times. This format will only be implemented in Montréal and Austin, the other round with three races.
The wild card driver for the round in Montréal is Autumn Fisher (#77), who will be supported by Standard Chartered. The 18-year-old Canadian has been racing in French F4 this year, and she also raced in one round of British F4 at Brands Hatch a fortnight ago. Fisher also participated in the F1 Academy rookie test last September and finished 16th in the afternoon session. There are no other driver changes expected.

What to know: Super Formula Lights’ third round will mark the series’ only visit to Suzuka this year.
Delightworks Racing’s Yusuke Mitsui leads the championship despite not reaching the top step of the podium at the previous round at Autopolis. Instead, Honda junior Kotaro Shimbara and his B-Max teammate Evan Giltaire shared the wins, and the Frenchman now trails Mitsui by just two points, while he has a comfortable 17-point gap over Toyota junior Kiyoshi Umegaki in third.
There is just one driver change, as Tokiya Suzuki (#38) returns from his suspension at TOM’S, having been stood down for the previous round,as well as Super GT’s round at Fuji by Toyota. His replacement for that time, Yuzuki Miura, will return to his usual FRegional Japan seat.
Meanwhile at Delightworks, team principal Masato Shimoyama has been dropped for allegedly conducting fraudulent activities. His role in Super Formula Lights will be taken over by Toda Racing president Kengo Toda.

What to know: After beginning its new era in Spielberg a month ago, FR Europe heads to Zandvoort for its second round with the first of the two-race weekends in this mixed-format season.
There could be no better place to welcome championship leader Reno Francot. The sole Dutchman on the grid has 43 points at the top of the standings, ahead of Rashid Al Dhaheri on 38 and Kean Nakamura-Berta on 34. He took the lead by scoring his and CL Motorsport’s first ever win in the series.
Prema Racing’s Nakamura-Berta led the points after the first two races, but he will hope to avenge his rather disastrous final race, which saw him make a mistake behind the safety car, drop down the field, and collide with teammate Tomass Štolcermanis.
The top five in the championship, rounded out by Sebastian Wheldon and Alex Ninovic, are all ones to watch this weekend.
There will be one driver change this weekend as Belgian Eurocup-3 driver Thomas Strauven (#9) steps up to race with CL Motorsport for the next two rounds. The 18-year-old reigning Spanish F4 champion, who sits 14th in the Eurocup-3 standings after the first round on three points, is understood to be replacing Enea Frey.

What to know: FRegional Japan heads into its second Suzuka round this weekend with 17 drivers entering, a series record. Unlike the opening event at the same venue, just two races will be held instead of three.
Toyota junior Yuzuki Miura leads the drivers’ standings having won two of the three races last time out, while former Honda junior Ryota Horachi of Ponos Racing clinched a win in the second race. Miura leads the championship by 13 points.
Ahead of the second round, Miura got the call to replace Tokiya Suzuki in Super Formula Lights’ second round at Autopolis, enabling him to get more tracktime in F3-level machinery. Meanwhile, Miura’s teammate Masana Muto, who currently sits fourth in the standings, clinched his maiden win in single-seaters in Japanese F4’s opening round at Fuji.
Former Toyota junior Shunji Okumoto (#10) will make his debut in FR Japan with Rn-sports this weekend. The 27-year-old last raced in single-seaters in 2023, when he was in Japanese F4 as a Toyota junior, and has since been competing in Super GT and Super Taikyu. He replaces Hibiki Komatsu.
Masters’ class driver “Seimei” (#60) will likewise make his debut in the series, racing for Tomei Sports.

USF Pro 2000: Round 3, Indianapolis Raceway Park
Circuit: Indianapolis Raceway Park, 1.104 km
Schedule: All times local (UTC−5)
Wednesday 20 May

- 15:00–15:45: Test 2
Thursday 21 May
- 13:45–14:15: Practice
- 16:15–16:45: Qualifying
- 19:30–20:20: Race (90 laps)
How to follow: All sessions will be streamed live on the USF Pro Championships YouTube channel. Live Timing will be available on the USF Pro 2000 website.
Weather forecast: Rain possible Wednesday. Mostly cloudy on Thursday.
What to know: Indianapolis Raceway Park hosts one of two oval races on the calendar for USF Pro 2000, and it marks a decisive moment in the 2026 season, with Jack Jeffers and Frankie Mossman level on points in the drivers’ standings.
Both drivers have acquired 87 points in the four races so far this season, although Jeffers leads on countback. Leonardo Escorpioni, who suffered a huge crash in race two last time out at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, still remains third in the championship, 29 points behind the two leaders.
The oval qualifying format is in effect this weekend. Drivers will go out one by one for one-shot qualifying in which they will get two green-flag laps. The driver with the fastest lap time out of these two laps will earn pole position.
There are four driver changes for this event, with one surprising name on the list being Tymek Kucharczyk (#28). The Pole, who currently races in Indy NXT for HMD Motorsports, joins USF Pro 2000 for a standalone appearance with TJ Speed Motorsports in what is an opportunity to gain experience on ovals. Tanner DeFabis (#5) also returns to the series with Jay Howard Driver Development Powered by ECR after missing the weekend at IMS.
Not on the grid this weekend are Mayer Deonarine, who stood on the podium in race one at IMS, and Jack William Miller, who did not start either race. Both also did not contest round one.
Report by Vincent van der Hoek

From the press: In a field of teens and twenty-somethings aiming to become IndyCar’s next breakout stars, one driver stands in quiet defiance – 62-year-old Charles Finelli of FatBoy Racing, a regular part-time competitor in the championship. Who is he and what makes him so beloved in the paddock? We caught up with him to find out. Read the interview here.

USF2000: Round 3, Indianapolis Raceway Park
Circuit: Indianapolis Raceway Park, 1.104 km
Schedule: All times local (UTC−5)
Wednesday 20 May
- 11:00–11:45: Test 1
- 14:00–14:45: Test 2
Thursday 21 May
- 13:00–13:30: Practice
- 15:30–16:00: Qualifying
- 18:30–19:15: Race (75 laps)
How to follow: All sessions will be streamed live on the USF Pro Championships YouTube channel. Live timing will be available on the USF2000 website.
Weather forecast: Rain possible Wednesday. Mostly cloudy on Thursday.
What to know: USF2000 visits Indianapolis Raceway Park for the only oval race of the season. This is a valuable week for the drivers to gain oval experience, many for the first time in their careers. The IRP short oval demands keeping the tyres alive for the full 75-lap race with no pit stops.
DEForce Racing driver Sebastián Garzón comes into this event with a commanding lead in the championship. His points gap over Pabst Racing driver Brad Majman in second is 47 points, while Eddie Beswick currently sits third in the standings, 64 points behind Garzón.
With USF2000 racing on an oval this week, the oval qualifying format is in effect. Drivers will go out one by one for one-shot qualifying in which they will get two green-flag laps. The driver with the fastest lap time out of these two laps will earn pole position.
There are three driver changes ahead of this event. Kaylee Countryman misses out on this weekend because of her commitments with F1 Academy, which is racing at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Canada. Elías Vignola, who made a one-off appearance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, is also not on the grid, having gone back to his regular USF Juniors ride with DEForce Racing last weekend.
New on the grid for this event is Brenden Cooley (#95). The younger brother of USF2000 regular Evan Cooley joins Exclusive Autosport to gain oval experience at IRP, as USF Juniors, in which the younger Cooley currently sits 13th, does not run at an oval. This gives Exclusive Autosport the unique line-up of having two sets of brothers – the Cooleys and Gabriel and Ayrton Cahan – alongside last year’s race winner, Anthony Martella.

What to know: The second round of the 2026 Italian F4 season will be held at Autodromo Vallelunga after a thrilling season opener two weeks ago.
Rookie Alp Aksoy leads both the drivers’ and the rookies’ championship after a dominant weekend at Misano. With his Prema teammates Niccolò Maccagnani and David Cosma Cristofor following him in the standings, the legendary Italian outfit have successfully launched their title defence, holding a 34-point advantage over US Racing.
Though they are 148 points behind Prema, Maffi Racing also scored two historic podiums thanks to David Walther. The small Swiss team climbed up to third in the teams’ standings, while the 18-year-old Dane snatched fifth place in the drivers’ standings.
Some title favourites picked up grid penalties, among them R-ace GP teammates and Mercedes juniors Kenzo Craigie and Andy Consani. Craigie left Misano third in the rookies’ standings and 22nd overall, while his teammate sits 10th overall.
Two new faces will join the grid in Vallelunga. From this round onwards and in sister series E4, Italian-licensed rookie Roman Kamyab (#4) will race with Prema, having appeared on the round one entry list for Cram Motorsport but not raced. The British driver competed in the first three Formula Winter Series rounds with US Racing. Meanwhile, Kyrgyz-licensed driver Artem Severiukhin will return to Jenzer Motorsport, replacing Georgiy Zasov. Severiukhin finished fourth in the rookies’ standings last year and 13th overall with nine top-10 finishes.
Four other drivers from round one will not participate in this round. Payton Westcott, Emma Felbermayr and Rafaela Ferreira are all competing in the Montréal round of F1 Academy instead, while Alexander Chartier is still recovering from a hand injury sustained in the opener. He had been declared unfit to race after race one, in which he suffered a broken thumb after making contact with Augustus Toniolo. He told Feeder Series that he is targeting a return to the grid for the Monza round.

How to follow: Races one and two will be available for all viewers on the British F4 YouTube page. Race three will be available on ITV4 and ITVX for UK viewers and on the British F4 YouTube page for international viewers. Live timing for all sessions can be found on TSL Timing.
Weather forecast: Clear and sunny all weekend, with temperatures ranging between 21ºC and 27ºC through each day’s running.
What to know: After the drama of Brands Hatch’s wets-versus-slicks race that significantly reshuffled the final race’s order, British F4 heads to the Snetterton circuit for its first weekend in the sun.
Tommy Harfield made big strides in the championship after his dismal opening weekend, scoring the most points of any driver at Brands Hatch to recover to third in the standings.
Despite taking the lead of the drivers’ standings in race one, Mercedes junior Ethan Jeff-Hall left Kent further adrift of championship leader Dries Van Langendonck after a decision to stay on the wet tyre for race three proved to be the wrong call.
With temperatures around 10ºC higher than at the first two rounds of the season, managing the tyre temperatures – especially on the left wheels – will be critical to keep up the pace through the high-speed Riches and Williams curves, the varying-cambered Bombhole and the long sweeper of Coram.
Chris Dittmann Racing’s Autumn Fisher, who made her series debut in round two, will be absent as she serves as F1 Academy’s Montréal wildcard, with Piotr Orzechowski returning to his CDR seat after missing the round because of exams. No other changes are expected.

He currently leads the charge in the drivers’ championship on 70 points.
