Formula 2 and Formula 3 continue their busy seasons with a trip to Austria, with GB4, FRegional Japan and Chinese F4 also racing this weekend. Feeder Series previews the action.
By Feeder Series
The heatwave that afflicted much of Europe last week continues into this week, bringing sweltering temperatures to a new pair of racetracks. The Red Bull Ring in Austria hosts a full suite of F1, F2, F3 and Porsche Supercup this weekend, with as many as four Red Bull juniors competing in the developmental series. GB4 meanwhile splits from GB3 once again to race at Donington Park, its first of two race weekends at the Leicestershire track this year.
Elsewhere in the world, two series in East Asia reach their midpoints this weekend. FR Japan races at Motegi, a staple of Japanese single-seater racing, while Chinese F4 likewise holds its third round of six with an event at Ningbo on China’s eastern coast. The impending arrival of a typhoon has led to last-minute shake-ups in the schedule of the former event. Keep reading to find out more about these five championships’ upcoming rounds and how and when you can watch them.
Nordic 4 reaches its midpoint this weekend at Sturup Raceway in Sweden, back on the calendar for the first time since 2022. Matteis Stigsen, in the first-generation F4 car, leads the championship on 163 points, having stood on the podium in every race he’s finished, but Aquila driver Richard Olson is only 20 points behind. Fourth-placed Mille Hoe, the best of the F5 class runners, is set to return after missing round three, with all three classes therefore present on the grid.
Formula Nordic is also racing at Ljungbyhed, while the Formula Pro USA Western Championship will hold a round in Laguna Seca.

Weather forecast: Sunshine and hot temperatures all weekend. Temperatures will reach as high as 34ºC, with heat warnings in effect.
What to know: The hills are alive with the sound of F2 as the 2026 season continues its crescendo towards a championship conclusion. In Barcelona, Kush Maini claimed sprint race victory, while Rafael Câmara converted pole position into his maiden feature race win.
Five rounds into the season, Gabriele Minì leads the standings on 86 points, six clear of Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov. Câmara sits third, 11 points behind Tsolov, with Alex Dunne just two points further back. Tsolov and teammate Noel León have propelled Campos Racing to first in the teams’ championship on 134 points, ahead of Rodin Motorsport on 115 as the fight intensifies on both fronts.
The Red Bull Ring traditionally produces the season’s shortest lap times, compressing the field into razor-thin margins and leaving little room for error. Precision is critical in both qualifying and race conditions, while strict track limits enforcement frequently punishes even the smallest misjudgements. There are no driver changes for this round.

From the studio: Martinius Stenshorne’s Montréal feature race victory was the catalyst for Rodin’s remarkable recovery after a torrid start to the season. After his triumph, he joined the Feeder Series Podcast to discuss exploring the City of Saints, why he left McLaren’s junior programme and his favourite films for long-haul flights. Catch up with the episode here.

Saturday 27 June

Sunday 28 June
- 08:40–09:30: Feature race (26 laps)
How to follow: All sessions will be live-streamed on F1 TV, but fans can also follow them live via the series’ live timing service. Local viewing information can be found here.
Weather forecast: Sunshine and hot temperatures all weekend. Temperatures will reach as high as 34ºC, with heat warnings in effect.
What to know: With the European portion of the season now in full swing, F3 returns to Austria just five weeks after conducting an in-season test at the circuit. Noah Strømsted emerged as one of the quickest drivers throughout the test, topping the afternoon session on day one and placing in the top 10 in two of the other three sessions. The Trident driver has not yet scored a podium this season and will need a strong weekend to catch up to teammate Freddie Slater, who sits fourth in the standings.
Théophile Naël’s testing results were below the high standard he has set throughout the first three rounds of the season, in which he has taken three consecutive pole positions. With the temperatures potentially being some of the hottest the drivers will face all season, both races will likely become a competition of who has the best tyre management skills in the heat.
Salim Hanna is set to make his debut in the series, standing in for AIX Racing’s Brad Benavides, who is still recovering from the vertebrae fractures he sustained in Monaco. The 16-year-old Colombian currently competes in FRegional Europe with Prema Racing, sitting sixth in the standings with 59 points and three podiums. He will be the first driver born in 2009 to compete in F3.

What to know: Formula Regional Japan enters its third round of the season at Motegi this weekend, a venue the series last visited in 2024.
In fact, said Motegi round in 2024 marked the last time there were no Toyota juniors on the grid. Since they joined, they‘ve been on the top step in at least one race of all rounds until the previous round at Suzuka, when Ponos Racing’s Kento Omiya and Ryota Horachi beat Yuzuki Miura and Masana Muto to the wins.
And their victories shaped this year’s championship picture a little bit differently. Miura leads on 101 points, just 11 ahead of Horachi. Miura’s teammate Muto, who leads the Japanese F4 standings after two rounds, sits in third with 70 points, yet to collect a win, while Omiya on 63 points stays in the mix as an outside contender.
On Friday, the two 15-minute qualifying sessions scheduled for 10:50 and 11:15 local were cancelled as two typhoons approach and threaten severe weather. The two races were each moved earlier.
Yu Oda (#10) will race for Rn-sports this weekend, having competed in all races of the championship last year, when he came fifth in the drivers’ standings with two podium finishes. He replaces Shunji Okumoto.
Daisuke Matsunaga, who competes under the pseudonym “Daisuke” (#21), will make his debut in the championship with TB Hopper’s operated by Hitotsuyama Racing. Matsunaga won Super Taikyu’s Fuji 24 Hours overall in 2025 and 2026, racing TKRI’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Absent from this weekend’s round will be 2024 masters’ class champion “Yugo” and his team N-Speed, while Ragno Motor Sport’s Lin Chenghua will miss the race on Sunday as his visa expires.

What to know: After a month’s break, GB4 is back in action at Donington Park this weekend for the third round of the season.
Holding a 33-point lead in the drivers’ championship, Elite Motorsport’s Fred Green will be looking to build upon his current total of three race wins. KMR Sport’s Alex O’Grady sits behind him in second, having taken his own first race win of 2026 last time out at Oulton Park. Third position is currently held by Hillspeed’s Enzo Hallman, who left the previous round with a further two podium finishes.
Hillspeed currently sit in the top spot of the teams’ championship with 194 points. Second position is occupied by Douglas Motorsport on 170 points, while Fortec Motorsports sit in third on 158.
In a mid-season team change, former Idola Motorsport driver Jamie Leverton has made the move to Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing in the lead-up to this weekend, and the 17-year-old Briton will contest the remainder of the season with the team. Idola will therefore not be present on the grid this weekend.

The last round at Tianjin saw Shagaliev take pole position along with three second-place finishes and one third-place finish. Josh Feng and Zhao Zijun both took their first wins as well, with Feng winning race one and Zhao winning race two. Chan won race three, but two race-ending incidents prevented him from making his championship lead any larger than four points.
Liu Shangqing (#37) will be making his F4 debut this weekend with T-1 Racing, a new entry into the championship this season.
