The current GB4 Championship season might be coming to a close this weekend at Donington Park, but some teams are already looking forward to 2023. Fox Motorsport will join the championship next season, with Liam McNeilly announced as the first of at least two drivers for the team.

Speaking to F1 Feeder Series, McNeilly said he is looking forward to next season.
“It’s a new challenge for me and the team, so I’m just looking forward to getting out and seeing what we can do.”
Family support
This will be Fox Motorsport’s first full-season single-seater campaign, but they have achieved success in other series with multiple single-make category and GT race wins.
It’s not unprecedented in feeder series racing for a driver’s father to be their team principal, and Fox Motorsport will have that combination next season with Paul McNeilly in charge of the team. Liam McNeilly thinks that although his father’s presence will help, there is more involved in making the team work.
“Every person in the team contributes to the result and to the car. It helps a lot, but also, the whole team needs to pull together to get the results.”
Stepping up from Ginettas
McNeilly is making the step up from the Ginetta Junior Championship, a move seen by many on the GB4 grid as a natural progression. He is excited to see how quickly he can get up to speed with the series when he completes his first test session with Fox Motorsport in a few weeks’ time.
“It’s going to be a lot different. The grip and power are going to be a lot different to the Junior, but I’ll see what we can do in our first test in a few weeks.”
He has won eight Ginetta Junior races over the past two seasons and taken 24 total podiums, finishing runner-up in both the main championship and the winter series in 2021.
“An extra pair of hands”
The British driver was at Donington Park supporting the Fox Motorsport team as they conclude their British GT campaign. He took a moment away from cleaning the car to speak to F1 Feeder Series.
“I’m just helping out. Whatever they need doing that they need an extra pair of hands, I’m the person.”
The GB4 Championship announced their 2023 calendar ahead of their final race weekend. The series will support the British GT Championship at all rounds except Silverstone, where the GB3 Championship, which GB4 also supports, will be the headline event.
